Yeah you're definitely HM fit @Apoca - which one are you doing and when?

I MAY have five half marathons lined up before November :D

There is a relatively small one some 20 miles from where I live at the end of August, no big cost in signing up for it. I kind of don't want to start with something busy in a big city.

And 5? You really are bumpin' that :basil:

Just done my 4th 5k. First 2 were really difficult. The breaks are still essential, but 3rd and 4th have just been fantastic. I'm so pleased to be doing it, I feel like it's giving me the confidence I've not really felt I've had easy access to for a while if that makes sense. I guess if anyone is on the fence about doing it, I'd absolutely urge you to do it. It did take me about 3 months after joining yo finally pluck up the courage as I can seriously dread these scenarios, but people have actually came up to me and it's now something I'm actually looking forward to. Okay update over :)

HPOTS (the summer) :disco:

1/5 half marathons done last weekend.
May have been a PB :eyes:

I’m running my first (and possibly only) marathon in September. I’m quite anxious about it. I’ve done 3 sub-2 hour halves. But the thought of a full fills me with fear.
Any tips on building up to it?
3 weeks to go, I ran a 25k last weekend in 2:12 and it hurt towards the end but I managed it.
I’ve been hitting PBs on all my races this year and I’ve lost almost 18KG so everything is very positive!

I've been super lax lately. The hot weather put me off and I've not been able to pick it back up again.

Parkrun tomorrow! Maybe that can get me back a bit and make me feel a bit better.

Well done, and don't read too much into the time. parkrun is great, but there are so many variables - particularly with the busier ones - that just don't occur in most other running scenarios, so it's hard to reliably measure.

Honestly I don't, they're just fun. I have a benchmark but I also don't lose any sleep over it! ♥️

Managed 8k today and could have continued. Pace is crucial of course (it really was perfect for me - 54 minutes), but I'm going to try 10k as it's pace to suit the group on a Thursday. Running is kind of exciting in it's own way.

Not exactly running but I'm planning on a 700km in September challenge. Mostly walking and hiking but with some running too so I don't lose total practice.

Just need to work out I'm doing it for myself or raising money for a charity. The latter would give me more drive but I did a fundraiser in December.

Why don't you use something like Active Giving? It's not a fundraiser but you can contribute to a cause with the 700km you are targeting.

I've decided to just do a fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society on fb - if it raises it raises money.

I'll be about 4 hours+ of walking a day but should be a nice challenge.

I'm doing a city run of 6km on Friday but the forecast is really awful. 11°C and pouring rain - so that's not something I am really used to.

Any recommendations re: clothing? @Suedehead Cause in winter I am all packed up but I don't have to worry about getting drenched. I'll probably bring a goretex jacket for before and straight after to stay dry and warm-ish. :zombie:

I have a running rain jacket that I love. It weighs almost nothing and can be bunched up and fit in my pocket. I’ll look at the brand when I get home because I’d definitely recommend it

Is it definitely going to be raining? 11 is pretty warm to wear a jacket at all while running. I would probably just wear a hat, no jacket, even if it’s raining personally

Yeah, pouring apparently. I also hate running with a jacket generally but there's a bit of a wait before and after, so I really wanna avoid my first cold of this autumn :basil:

that’s better, because at least it’s not too warm to wear a jacket. Mine is DSG by the way

I think so. I was a bit sore from intervals on Monday but my head was busy adjusting to the wet streets and corners, so I suppose that helped. :D

A colleague of mine dragged me into the first start group (“shut up, you’re fast enough”) which was kinda daunting when you have people zoom past you but really glad I kept a steady 4min/km.

Worst thing I’m feeling now is utterly exhausted. Obviously it makes sense but I’d like to be able to function :D

Oh I’m terrible with these
I just use the “free” ones I get every year when I get rejected from the London marathon ballot
