Yeah you're definitely HM fit @Apoca - which one are you doing and when?
I MAY have five half marathons lined up before November
Just done my 4th 5k. First 2 were really difficult. The breaks are still essential, but 3rd and 4th have just been fantastic. I'm so pleased to be doing it, I feel like it's giving me the confidence I've not really felt I've had easy access to for a while if that makes sense. I guess if anyone is on the fence about doing it, I'd absolutely urge you to do it. It did take me about 3 months after joining yo finally pluck up the courage as I can seriously dread these scenarios, but people have actually came up to me and it's now something I'm actually looking forward to. Okay update over
1/5 half marathons done last weekend. There is a relatively small one some 20 miles from where I live at the end of August, no big cost in signing up for it. I kind of don't want to start with something busy in a big city.
And 5? You really are bumpin' that
3 weeks to go, I ran a 25k last weekend in 2:12 and it hurt towards the end but I managed it.I’m running my first (and possibly only) marathon in September. I’m quite anxious about it. I’ve done 3 sub-2 hour halves. But the thought of a full fills me with fear.
Any tips on building up to it?
Honestly I don't, they're just fun. I have a benchmark but I also don't lose any sleep over it!Well done, and don't read too much into the time. parkrun is great, but there are so many variables - particularly with the busier ones - that just don't occur in most other running scenarios, so it's hard to reliably measure.
Not exactly running but I'm planning on a 700km in September challenge. Mostly walking and hiking but with some running too so I don't lose total practice.
Just need to work out I'm doing it for myself or raising money for a charity. The latter would give me more drive but I did a fundraiser in December.
I've decided to just do a fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society on fb - if it raises it raises money. Why don't you use something like Active Giving? It's not a fundraiser but you can contribute to a cause with the 700km you are targeting.
I have a running rain jacket that I love. It weighs almost nothing and can be bunched up and fit in my pocket. I’ll look at the brand when I get home because I’d definitely recommend itI'm doing a city run of 6km on Friday but the forecast is really awful. 11°C and pouring rain - so that's not something I am really used to.
Any recommendations re: clothing? @Suedehead Cause in winter I am all packed up but I don't have to worry about getting drenched. I'll probably bring a goretex jacket for before and straight after to stay dry and warm-ish.
Is it definitely going to be raining? 11 is pretty warm to wear a jacket at all while running. I would probably just wear a hat, no jacket, even if it’s raining personally
Brilliant time! This is like parkrun-winning fast!23:56 for 6km.
Almost 2 minutes faster than what I hoped for.
That’s amazing!23:56 for 6km.

Congratulations!!! That’s a great time. You’re going to feel terrible tomorrowAnd I’m in a massive amount of pain, but marathon completed 3:49:29.
