MOOPYFESTIVALEN 2024
​

Another year of questionable choices from the Swedish public, another time for Moopy to (mostly) right those wrongs!

Rules for the heats are simple: 6 songs will compete, the top 2 in each Semi-Final will move on to the Moopyfestivalen Final, whilst the 3rd/4th place to the Run-Off Round. The 5th and 6th placers will be retired until they can be sent off to work as props for the next Loreen staging.

Having reached the Final of Melodifestivalen three times before, the fourth outing of Samir & Viktor was less successful in the results and vocal department, as they crashed out in the first heat a considerable margin behind the 4th placer. Here Moopy was much less supportive as they claim last here!

In a heat of Melodifestivalen veterans, the odds from the start for Melina and her simple Swedish ballads weren't good to begin with. She did defend her song as best as she could, kudos to her, but it was never going to set the scoreboards alight of the Swedish public.

Moopy was a bit more generous, getting a 5th place finish instead of a 6th in this semi-final. Interestingly, while she didn't get any 12s, Melina actually got 5 sets of 10 points which made up half her score here!

Now that we have scrubbed the two doomed acts out of the equation, it's time to find which two of our four remaining acts are going to the Final, and who is off to the Run-Off Vote!

Oops, I'll try and remember to vote in the next heat in time! Was just coming to put some last minute votes together, thought the deadline was midnight

Poor Samir & Viktor, without a doubt their weakest entry but I don't think they deserved the indignity of not even making it to AC. I'd swap them out for the lazy Smash Into Pieces re-write.

Broadly satisfactory results. Elisa going DTF is the most correct thing to have happened all year.

Forever Yours going DTF is a joke. While the songwriting is competent, it's completely run-of-the-mill, and the creative vision adds next to nothing. These songwriters are capable of producing much better schlager and you sorry lot must be starving for it to vote this cliché through. I haven't gotten the urge to listen to it once since the first heat.
