Mylène Farmer - Interstellaires (1 Viewer)

I'm halfway through my FIRST LISTEN PARTY and this album STELLAR so far!

Wow!

She's COME BACK TO SAVE US ALL!

Mine has arrived CHEZ UN AMI and I cannot WAIT to feel LA JOIE

I'm having MY first listen party and 'C'est pas moi' is RIGHT BON :disco:

The limited edition CD digipak might have cost four quid more than the standard version, but DIEU IN HIMMEL that card is DE LUXE. However, those with a liking for uniformity might not be that taken with the size of it because it's taller than a standard jewel case

*has panic attack and starts screaming*

The album debuts at #1 with 109,971 first-week sales. The best of the year in France (though I assume Adele has a good chance at topping her in two weeks time).

Bit of a comedown from 147,530 opening for Monkey Me though. (Bleu Noir did 139,176 + 9,100 downloads the week earlier due to a strange staggered release).

BRAVO MYL :disco:

I'm not sure that I'm especially taken with this album so far (especially the UTTER HORROR of 'I want you to want me'). Dare I say, I think I prefer her with Boutonnat. I know it's more or less the same old thing again and again, but repetition never puts off an Enya loon

I'm [octophone]gazing lovingly[/octophone] it at as we speak! LOVE my digipak!!

The CD itself is lovely too isn't it. And let's not get started on Queen Myl's fabulous photos inside.

I don't care what anyone says about the amount of work she's got done. She'll always be MY GIRL.

And apparently some people aren't that into "Stolen Car" either? I think it's fabulous!!

Are there any lovely melancholy Bleu Noir esque ballads?

I can't think of anything specifically at the moment but I'd some elements of this album definitely have a Bleu Noir feel, if that makes sense. It really feels like a logical follow-up. As though Monkey Me never happened..

How much work HAS she had done? This APPEARS to be a recent picture...

By the way I'd say that "Voie Lactee" is very Bleu Noir. Do you agree Su-Cl?

I think that 'À rebours' is probably a bit closer but so far even that one is no 'N'aie plus d'amertume' for me. In other news, I'm deleted that godawful 'I want you to want me' from my iTunes - "Put on a brand-new SHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRT" indeed :grr: - so now it's a 10-track album :french:

Is that actually Sting in the bobble hat in the 'Stolen Car' video? I thought it was JOHN GRANT!

I know! Sorry but I think he's hot. In fact I think the whole video is hot. My only minor niggle is that there isn't enough SEX! I wanted more of StingMyl age appropriate action on that bed!

I love rubbish Myl en Anglais! :D

Dave Aude has jazzed up the single for the poofs. Other official remixes are on Spotify also.

I hate these remixes. Much prefer to go out dancing (pun intended) to the original, especially that post-chorus instrumental breakdown. I "perf" my best moves to that bit!

If it wasn't for the 'I Want You To Want Me' cover and the English language songs (due to her accent) I'd be inclined to say this is my favourite album of hers.

Really can't get enough of this album at the moment
Am loving "Un jour ou l'autre" at the moment, can totally imagine her crying to this so the crowd sing when she can't hit the notes live :disco:

*.*

i haven't bothered with a mylene (or zazie) album in years. is this one worth it? i got distinct desert rose vibes from the sting duet :grosse:

Get it.
In other news there's a horror themed video for "City of love" coming. Good choice but wanted "c'est pas moi" first

How the fuck did a) we not notice and b) did she get on there in the first place, but she managed to secure a gig on Jimmy Fallon last week. Are they promoting this in America? Seriously? At first I thought it was because of Sting (they appeared together) but then she did "City of Love" solo...

Surely no one GIVES a SHIT? Still, unbelievably good promo for her...

I caught a bit of Jimmy Fallon last week when I was away and I had a choice of 2 different English language channels. I only saw a part of the interview (and that was about 95% focused on taking the piss out of Sting) and the duet, but I was quite AGOG to see her on it.

Sorry, she didn't do "City of Love", though, I just saw it in the headline before posting.

It was an odd interview- he ignored her for the most part and then when he did talk to her it was RATHER AWKWARD to say the least as she looked as though she didn't understand most of it and had a perma grin on her face, until the end when she perked up and clubbed him around the head with a frying pan.

I am still BAFFLED as to how she managed to get on it, though...

And a bit more searching and yes, it appears she's signed to Cherrytree Records in the States and it's actually her first album to be released there!

Obviously it won't do a THING, but STILL...

It was also officially released in the UK, wasn't it? Which, again, was the first time for one of hers I think...

Yes having just watched it it's not a great interview. I think Seth Meyers would have been a more comfortable booking for her (and he often has slightly more left field guests so it wouldn't be quite so WTF), but I think Fallon gets the biggest ratings of the late night shows so...

He does, which is why it's so surprising! It also isn't the best performance- I don't think either are particularly BAD but their voices don't gel together well live. It was all a bit stilted.

The face is on the verge of being a RIDICULOUS FRIGHT MASK as well...

Finally had chance to give the album a proper spin the last couple of days and it's revealing itself to be REALLY RATHER GOOD but, sadly, more of the SAME OLD SHIT. I don't see the point of dumping Boutonnat to make an album that sounds EXACTLY the same as if he'd done it. I love "C'est Pas Moi" but that chorus has been done about EIGHT TIMES BEFORE :D

Seriously, "Monkey Me" seemed such a backward step after the quite leftfield (for her) and brilliant "Bleu Noir" actually did REALLY REALLY WELL and this does seem to just continue in that usual vein...

Hmm.. I think the new album is a conscious effort at creating a daughter record born of Bleu Noir and Anamorphosee. And when it works, it's great; but I think that something is missing. It's definitely better than Monkey Me though.

It's much better than "Monkey Me" but it's in her "normal" vein, rather than something stranger...I actually quite like "I Want You To Want Me", though, despite all the negative reviews :D
