Mylène Farmer - Monkey Me (New album 2012) (1 Viewer)

I barely have time for Beyonce, let alone her (even) lesser sibling.

Didn't realise poor ol' Retardos latest is already in the bargain bin. I may have to investigate. I hated that stupid "Big Hoops" song but I do have the rest of her English albums (all 3 of them).

I'll be seeing her a week after you Suede at the last Bercy gig. Can't wait.

I went to see this bitch back in 2005 in Paris with my ex who was a massive Mylene loon.

It wasn't for me - however the staging/effects were phenomenal. She had rainfall on stage forming her silhouette. She certainly knew how to put on a show.

"Comme j'ai mal" is a dream come true. I'm loving that setlist except for the penultimate song. I'd rather have "Tu ne le dis pas", or really any other song!

"Comme J'ai Mal" and "Slipping Away" the major OUI OUI OUI points for me, but no "Lonely Lisa" ? :(

Timeless 2013: Le Film is available now. My copy has arrived courtesy of Amazon Fr, bien sur.

Watching it now and as usual for Mylene concerts, it is shot beautifully. There's a bonus disc as well.

Oh yes, I heard that somewhere. Some kind of joint album. Not sure what to make of that but oh well. :zombie:

Apparently she's working on new material with MUSE

NO THANKS MYL :gross:

I'd rather have that than more of the same again. "Bleu Noir" really was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR but "Monkey Me" is BORING AS FUCK...

Now that the dust has settled, I tend to agree (although at the time, of course, I think I declared it one of her best :bad: ). It definitely has some highlights, but Monkey Me was rather safe. Mylene-by-numbers if you will.

Bleu Noir was START TO FINISH flawlessness.

THIS. Entirely. I've probably played it less than 10 times overall- ridiculous when you consider how I've played the rest of her OEUVRE

Totally with Sheena on this one. Laurent Boutonnat can still produce a couple of great songs but he can't do anything approaching full albums anymore, and it's not like she'd ever agree to do a Muse album simply featuring vocals by her, she massively changed the Moby demos on Bleu Noir for instance. I'm pretty optimistic about this given her rock songs probably sound the most timeless of anything she's done.

FUCK OFF VOR YOU'RE SHITLISTED.

No, seriously tho - I'm intrigued but the last Muse album was woeful. Could go either way.

The thing is - if it's some joint writing process and it's produced by a third entity it could be very good. If it's produced by Matt Bellamy it could be pretty damn awful.

I'm surprised Bleu Noir is so well regarded on here, most FANZ seem to really dislike it. As an album I prefer Monkey Me over Bleu Noir. Elle a dit, Monkey Me (song), Je te dis tout and À force de... all rank among my favourite Mylène songs. I hardly ever listen to the Bleu Noir album these days, only Diabolique mon ange gets regular plays.

I should do a Mylène countdown one day.

I just find it bizarre- "Monkey Me" is just the SAME OLD SHIT as it's always been. Don't the FANZ actually want her to do something different or are they just happy with a million clones of her 80s glories? The last two Boutonnat albums haven't been TERRIBLE, no, but they've been a bit, well, SAFE and BORING.
