Mylène Farmer - Rolling Stone (1 Viewer)

Well I've now played it three times and it's a charming little album. May not be up there with her very, very best but it is certainly a lovely addition to her canon and lyrically one of her stronger efforts.

@Alex have you seen Ghostland? Her accent is a bit jarring but I thought she was really good in it.

No, I didn't really think it was my sort of film. Me and horrors don't really mix well :D

Really enjoying this album. Probably slightly better than Interstellaire, definitely better than Monkey Me and Pointe de Suture but no up there at Bleu Noir level.

N'oublie Pas video is over 600K views on YouTube (apparently much better at this stage than 'Rolling Stone' did). Too early to say if she has a crossover hit on her hands but it seems to be doing well.

I don't know what the fuck's going on with that other singer's voice but there's something a bit Kelly Family about it and it's just caused laughter which I don't think is the intention :tongueout:

Anyway, the album is turning out to be QUITE GOOD and I'm already liking it significantly more than 'Interstellaires'

My copy (vinyl OR cd) hasn’t shown up yet from Amazon.fr (hoping it’s at work tomorrow) but I was in France this weekend and all of the major SUPERMARCHES we visited were sold out. #stockingproblems

It’s more than respectable- it’s the second highest first week sale of the year..
That really is fantastic! I don't know if "Rolling Stone" and "N'oublie Pas" were genuine cross-over hits (my guess is they weren't) and we all know she very rarely does any sort of promo work (in fact has she done anything apart from the two TV interviews, one for Ghostland and the other for the tour announcement?)

Whatever she is doing, more power to her. I don't know what sort of reviews the album got either.

I think she'll always have "loon sales" not far from that figure, but also she did a couple of TV interviews for this and performances too. I'm sure the four versions released helped too...

Anyone trying for tour tickets this morning? I have had the page open all morning and FUCKING STUPIDLY ANNOYINGLY at about 8:55 I started refreshing it, not reading that it said there was a QUEUE and refreshing basically makes you leave it- I was at 87% at 08:53 and now I'm 30%. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm so annoyed...stupid mistake to make!

She's apparently releasing more dates after these sell out, but still..

Did the same thing.. Was on 78% and it went back down to 21%. I had to laugh.

I didn't. I almost punched someone. Luckily no one was here, but Mr Sheena got it when he got back from the shop a few moments ago. MAN WHO ACTUALLY SPEAKS FRENCH IN COMPLETELY IDIOCY NON SHOCK.

If you go in from the link on the mail, it says "Waiting time 1 hour". I'm on 58% now. I can't imagine there's going to be much left- AND I have to go out at 10:25ish...

INCIDENTALLY what do you make of the new album Shee?

42% now...

I LIKE it, but I've only played it a couple of times. It really is the SAME OLD SHIT again though, isn't it?

I wish she'd see how "Bleu Noir" gave her her last proper hit, single wise, and her best reviews in FOREVER and try branching out again. I mean, I know she's moved away from Boutonnat and all that (THANK FUCK) but Y'KNOW...

Yeah I have to agree with that assessment. In fact even Interstellaire felt a bit more adventurous... still, it's better than Monkey Me.

Funny how Bleu Noir is really not a favourite with the 'fanzzzz' though. It consistently comes up as a 'least favourite MF album' or in the lower reaches of album rankings on the MF fan groups on Facebook that I am a member (OH HUSH NOW....)

That sums up the whole thing for me

Yeah, but most of that lot are fucking WEIRD. It's definitely my favourite of her "second" era by a mile (i.e.- after the all-conquering, every one a classic, Immaculate Collection-esque "Les Mots" collection...).

MYLENE ALBUM RANK (again and not including the new one because it's JUST NOT FAIR)

1. Ainsi Soit Je...
2. Innamoramento
3. Bleu Noir
4. Anamorphosée
5. L'Autre
6. Avant Que L'Ombre
7. Interstellaires
8. Point De Suture
9. Cendres De Lune
10.Monkey Me

1. Avant que L'ombre
2. Bleu Noir
3. Anamorphosee
4. Innamoramento
5. Point de Suture
6. L'autre
7. Ainsi Soit Je...

9. Interstellaire
10. Monkey Me
11. Cendres de Lune

I THINK...

125 Euros for golden circle then. To be expected.

What is "Carre Platine" all about?

No idea but it's what all the FANZZZZZ are going for. I'll definitely grab those if there are any left.

I reckon it'll be like Madonna's VIP tickets from the Rebel Heart Tour, i.e. overpriced glorified 'golden circle' tickets (the book WAS an unusually nice gesture from THAT ONE though...)

GOD I FUCKING HATE BUYING TICKETS FOR CONCERTS

And I just got Golden Circle for Friday 14th too! Surprisingly easy once you get in...

It looks like the "Carre platine" is further back, but elevated higher.

Rather disconcerting that after six years away from the stage and being 57 she's only going to do ten shows next year. Doesn't exactly bode well for the future... perhaps our Myl is just doing her part to combat climate change hein.

Hmmm I really don't think the Feder tracks are more of same, far from it actually, but they do suffer in not being punctuated by another strong producer, or boasting any obvious hits. This anonymous Leon Deutschmann really is Boutannot 2.0 and a bewildering choice as a collaborator. One hopes she dismisses such an unnecessary bridge to the past on the next album and that it doesn't take three to four years to come to fruition.

Anyway, current favourites include Get Up Girl, Histoire de fesses, and Des Larmes, none of which, predictably, is the next single.
