Paris 2024 - Day 10 (Mon 5 Aug) (1 Viewer)

Why are BBC showing chat, and montage videos of athletes as children for the umpteenth time, instead of sport?

Because they've pissed most of their live coverage on the gymnastics, they're having to ration whatever little they have left of their 200+ hours allowance.

The athletics iPlayer stream is where it's at, lads - I've had pole vaulters and runners and NO PRESENTERS / studio / VT nonsense all evening.

For me cycling is shit unless it's the Madison, but I'll happily take today's gold

Oh but dammit now it's women's discus. BORING. They should combine it with the Skeet and have other athletes try and shoot down what they're throwing

I heard a name in the 5000m and I was sure it was Faith Kakembo

I guess the other potential athletics gold is KJT?

You can do all this in five minutes’ time. FFS BBC

They’re not doing any of the smaller sports any favours. Just quickly cutting to the moments without any build up. Imagine seeing him getting that after the previous 2 failed attempts - you don’t need a montage if you just show it. Sport does it for you.

The Canoe Cross had none of the build up either despite being totally engrossing and looking fantastic. Just quickly cut to the British doing their runs and then cut away again.

I know they’re hamstrung but can they do it better?

Omg love this horsey pic.

Realistically, our remaining athletics medal chances are

M400: Matt Hudson- Smith (potential gold, he’s the warm favourite)/ Charlie Dobson (outside bronze chance)
M800: Ben Pattison (bronze last year at Worlds)
M1500: Josh Kerr (potential gold, him vs Jakob)

W200: Daryll or Dina a chance at a sneaky bronze
W400: Amber Anning (very outside bronze chance)
W1500: Laura Muir
WHEP: KJT (favourite for silver probably)

M4x1: Thought not until London Diamond League where it was going very well until they dropped the baton!
M4x4: Potentially challenge for gold if the right team is all there, but probably alongside Belgium behind the US

W4x1: Saying this now- I reckon this is a gold medal chance. Will depend how the US run really, but Jamaica are weakened and we are known for reliable changes and lots of practice. The US drop batons far more often!

W4x4: Real chance of a medal with US/Netherlands other big contenders

There’s usually a sneaky bronze somewhere from someone odd. Got a weird feeling about Lizzie Bird in the steeplechase.

Would you put Daryll ahead of Dina based on the last few days? She seems much more relaxed.

It feels like everything is in Dina’s head. And that’s why I don’t think she will win. But she usually runs a good bend. She’s leading and crumbles, all depends on how Daryll, who is a slow starter, claws her back.

Don’t discount Brittany Brown or Favor Ofili either.
