Paris 2024- Day 4 (Tuesday 30th July) (1 Viewer)

Team GB currently looking good for a medal (probs bronze) in the women's gymnastics team final.

Oh whoops I jinxed them here. SORRY LADIES

Fourth, like the GB men were yesterday. Gender equality :disco:

Another medal for Ireland in swimming with a gold (and olympic record!) for Daniel Wiffen in the 800m freestyle. Exciting for them! He's apparently also doing the 1500m AND 10k open water swim if they can sift the shit out of the Seine in time...

The coverage then goes to an awful Melodifestivalen-esque segment of lads painting each other and being lads. To echo everyone else, REALLY? At the studio chat is then analysing and summarising what has been. Do we really need pointless "fun lol" sections when there is literally action happening as we speak?

I've only had one eye on it admittedly but I haven't even seen any medal ceremonies yet, and they're my favourite bit sometimes! :(

Unlike the triathlon the 10k gets to go ahead even if there ARE still turds floating in the Seine. They move it to where they did the kayaking or canoeing or one of them. (Hopefully the canoe slalom :disco:)

I was so happy for the Irish man getting his gold, although I googled and he was born in Leeds and is from Northern Ireland? GIVE US OUR MEDAL YOU LITTLE SHIT

This pissed me right off. This type of thing is such a needless, open goal for the beeb too. Do they really not have enough confidence in the ENTIRE CONTENT OF THE OLYMPICS to keep us entertained?

At least it does seem to be getting better. I've not seen First Dates Fred or that shit CGI cafe since the morning of day one. Both to stay gone, please

Why does the tennis not go to a 3rd set? Both have won a set each?

Fred is on the 10:30 highlights show shouting at mountain bikers

It’s how they’ve played it on the ATP and WTA tours for years (at least they don’t have the no ad rule here) only the grand slams play out the final set in doubles these days which is a shame.

The way it took me a day to realise that the bloke doing the swimming punting on the BBC was NOT Gary Lineker

:nononono:

Meanwhile Heather Watson lost her mixed doubles match with Joe Salisbury at the same time. :(

But on a positive, she won the ladies doubles with Katie Boulter!

Well done to the swim boys. Nice to see we can win a medal that doesn't involve expensive equipment or animals

Is wrong of me to not want Andy Murray to win?

LOLling at everyone just coming to the same conclusion athletics fans have had for years about stupid coverage, inane studio chatter, showing old races and features when there’s live action on. It’s really fucking shite.

I don't think it's entirely Clare Balding's fault. She's been given a shit job of hosting a programme that is simultaneously trying to be a dynamic live broadcast and a cosy highlight reel with commentary/banal pleasantries. It rarely feels like the BBC knows what they're doing - you're either getting whiplash from events cutting halfway through or being lumbered with VTs and interviews while something else is clearly happening in the background - and that comes through in the way Clare Balding is presenting.

Rebecca Adlington has been great, though.

Will be there mixed relays in the swimming? Those were quite fun last time
