Last year's hosts will decide their act on 2nd March, but they've already published the songs.

Pleased to say that on this basis, after their storming success the past two years they've decided to double down and abandon the concept of melody altogether. :disco:

Can't wait to cut a rug to that one at the Euroclub

This slightly more tuneful number appears to be the favourite at this stage. Took me a few listens but there's definitely potential for an interesting performance.

All this fabulously uncompetitive leftfield bizarreness is MUCH more like it!

Is nobody sending any good artists this year because they’re worried it’ll be bombed?

Are you sure we aren’t sending Tulisa?

Oh I quite like this. Almost sounds like Inna's new music.:disco:

I've just given this a proper listen and I adore it.

(Appreciate it's hardly high praise given my penchant for the BIZZARE.)

I like his eyebrows and hair as well. Whatever they send from this wilfully uncommercial selection is obviously going to come last so they might as well send someone called CONAN :horny:

Although I’m dying to see what on earth the ‘Pugna’ staging is going to look like, so that’s one national final I’ll certainly be watching

I have only just discovered this, already my absolute winner for 2019 without hearing anything else. It’s like Arca does Eurovision, but also not really Eurovision at all.

Has this won for Portugal yet?? Also OBSESSED with this incredible live performance of a different song -

A potential Eurovision icon in the making, however I can’t help but feel he would be more at home supporting Fever Ray or something

Telemoveis is absolutely my favourite national selection song of the season so far, and if they stage it well I actually think it could give Portugal another top ten finish.

He's miles ahead of the others on YouTube views - 1.2 million so far compared to 530,000 for the closest runner up. But I don't trust them for a moment not to fuck it up.

Telemoveis is remarkable. It's like somebody heard Origo and decided NO, MAKE IT MORE TESTING :disco:

Is everyone being sarcastic? That Telemoveis thing is fucking NIGHTMARISH. It's like the soundtrack to an experimental short film about the dangers of LSD, only less tuneful.

I can’t believe they may actually have found something worse than Salvador. If it gets chosen I can say with absolute confidence that it would be my least favourite entry of the year.

This guy's voice is horrible. His lyrics are atrocious and there's no melody to speak of. And I also think he sings off key throughout.

They're trying far too hard to be the 'real' music representatives now. That smug twat in his granddad's suit winning with a boring 40s pastiche has basically ruined them as a competing nation ever since. BRING BACK SUZY.

Wow. This freaked me the fuck out. Who stages a song with one (admittedly hot) guy dancing in shorts to the side?

It reminds me of a queer version of this noted hot Hungarian daddy moment (albeit sans perms-grinned violin woman)

V much hoping he brings his friend in shorts to Israel to turn the stage into a chemsex party :disco:

Oh god he's got the same freaky dancer too.

That Conan filth is borderline UNLISTENABLE. I only say 'borderline' because I had to hear it all the way through to check whether it improved at all. It doesn't. Tuneless, directionless garbage that's so desperate to be avant garde that it forgets to be a song. Horrible presentation, horrible singer, horrible dancing, just fucking horrible. Portugal have been fucking SHIT for the last couple of years, and I hope to GOD this bombs if it's selected so that they might send actual music in 2020.

:D

AU CONTRAIRE I've been listening to it non-stop. Never has an ode to the humble mobile phone moved me so.

I'm quite the fan of the Portuguese real music renaissance of late.

He won the televote but was placed third by the juries, which concerns me...

Did you pick up on my subtle cues? I just prefer music to sound like there's been some sort of effort put into it, not cobbled together by some talentless wanker who wants the world to mistake his shitness for art.
How interminably basic.

Ack! I’m with Tarty in this one. Like Origo being flogged with wind chimes by Holographic Entrypoint (if you don’t know that ref, please keep it that way)

I’m on the wrong side of history too - the side where I might yet have to listen to it again

Fourth... but Salvador didn’t win the jury vote in his semi either.

He seems like a twat. And it’s a heap of shite. The two guys were quite good though.

Live performance:

I seriously can't get enough of this HOT PIECE right now. If they've any sense, those wacky Portuguese will pick this AURAL K-HOLE TREAT.

Okay maybe ButterTart was right. I can't say I enjoyed this at all apart from the creepy hot shirtless guy who should ditch the glitter and stick to the shorts from that other performance.

In fairness to him, the Portuguese songs this year are... underwhelming. He probably overheard someone say 'You could chuck in any old shite and win against that lot', and saw it as a challenge.

Surma won the jury vote in tonight's semi. Sadly the cloth-eared public proved less receptive but she still finished second overall so qualifies to the finals.

Portugal truly serving ARTPOP this year :disco:
