The participants for Festival da Canção have been released and there are three early front-runners.

The current leader on YouTube views after 24-ish hours is this Zoë-esque number. It's not without its quirky charms, but I think viewers could find the France/Portugal connection a bit bewildering.

This rock number is in second. Also pretty good, I like the way it incorporates Portuguese instrumentation, and the bit where it goes all Phantom of the Opera is quite fun. I think this is their safest bet for a spot in the finals. The actual chorus could be stronger though.

Finally there's this, which is your standard pretty but dull Portuguese ballad. Nicely produced I guess.

I know I can always count on Portugal to deliver something that is as far away from a tune as possible. Don't let me down.:kim:

I don’t think people can be THAT bewildered by them singing in French, do we not remember last year’s entry? :D

Besides, it’s only a few lines in French anyway isn’t it?

Semi One qualifiers. Somewhat surprisingly, the rock opera one (Blasted) got knocked out already.

This is the hot favourite but I'm really disappointed by the performance. That HUNCHED stage presence screams semi final flop...

It'd probably be another O jardim points wise (minus the automatic ticket to the finals) but the other big pre-contest favourite from Elisa works much more as a live performance.

Despite the boring song, I'm fully behind this Queen. :disco: A worthy successor to Conan

This one's quite fun

The winner. It sounds a bit boring to me. I think they will have trouble qualifying with this.

Barbara also killed by the juries. FFS :D

This is passably pretty but going absolutely nowhere. Poor Portugal and their predictably rubbish post-win run.
