New 'social experiment' starting tonight FROM THE MAKERS OF THE TRAITORS (as Channel 4 are unsurprisingly keen to emphasise). Greg James is clearly no Claudia and six nights in a row feels a lot but I am giving it a go

Of course there is a someone who proclaims that Margaret Thatcher is her 'personal idol' but hopefully they have otherwise cast somewhere close to as well as that other show.

Oh I skim read and missed one of the Thatcher lovers.

James:

He considers Beyoncé to be an amazing leader, describing her as "a trailblazer" who's led "herself, women, men and the queer community to feel themselves, to be their best selves and to release their wiggle".
"I’ve been at the bottom and I also know what it feels like to be at the top with power," he says. :ken:

Urgh not that minging little right wing rentagob Sophie Whatserface. Here's hoping she has a tough time of it.

Oh no I don't want a lot of wannabe right wing commentators trying to win everyone over with their work ethic and charming personalities.

Greg James always comes across as a right dick, so it's a no from me.

One of the Thatchertwats is Sophie Corcoran, a thunderous far-right shitcunt. I wasn't watching this anyway because I find Greg James abhorrent, but I'm definitely not wasting my time on anything that platforms that nasty little bag of shit.

Has Greg ever actually come across as likeable on any of the TV projects he keeps getting given? It reminds me of the early days of BBC Choice when they kept pushing that bloke Joe Mace(?) and the other dead-eyed one for ages presenting all their shows until they eventually just GAVE UP.

I find Greg kind of INERT

@COB's mention of Joe Mace made me wonder what on earth happened to him, and apparently he became head of entertainment development for BBC in 2008, a 'highlight' being Eurovision, Your Country Needs You, head of development for ITV in 2012, responsible for Love Island, and entertainment commissioner for ITV in 2016, since bringing us The Masked Singer.

And now I'm wondering who the other dead eyed one was :D

Russell Kane is still pretty visible though, isn't he?

And I'd usually say quite the opposite of dead eyed...

It's actually really annoying me, I can see him in my mind but just can't think of a name :D I remember him having big/indie hair that was very of the time and was possibly Australian or South African or something like that? Anyway he was very insincere as I recall and I didn't like him :tongueout:

It used to be fun when Big Brother gave housemates electric shocks but this is a bit meh.

Not watching this but Sophie Corcoran is a properly tragic figure on Twitter. Imagine being so desperate that what passes for Darren Grimes’ career was an aspirational goal and you still couldn’t accomplish it!

Her posts are a combination of the most horrendous right-wing rhetoric and haunting glimpses into her lonely, friendless existence.

So on first impressions this isn't worth getting into?

It is giving The Traitors' less beloved sibling so far. I'll give it another episode but can see it being something I put on early evening while faffing about.

Well 10pm on a Monday night ?
Watching episode 2 and Marina is awful, over confident and probably a future Conservative party leader
True that 10pm Monday is hardly primetime, but News At Ten usually gets over 2.5m. An audience will find it if it wants to.

She was even worse once she got upstairs. Face like thunder when someone disagreed with her. They are all pretty unbearable though.

18 episodes feels like it will be a stretch, The Traitors didn't push it so far.

I started watching this at the weekend and have now caught up. Hate Cheryl and Sophie but I hate Marina exponentially more. Conner's a fickle yes-man, Jeff's weird and gives off a bit of a lechy vibe. Quite like Matt, Sidney, Joanna, James, Isaac, Edmond, Rashika and Rachael. Jack is a Fast Show parody and not a fan of Prince or Ramona either.

Will I continue watching? Depends on which leader goes tonight. I don't like the "cliffhanger" at the end of the episode, having to wait till tomorrow to find out who's going.

Shame that Joanna left, probably the most genuine one

This ends tonight. It definitely picked up after the first week or so once everyone stopped taking it quite so seriously.

Also Sophie finally ascending to the penthouse, only to plot and scheme like an amateur and get sent packing immediately :disco:
