I wasn’t sold on her in the first film because I thought the actress was quite bland, but now I think that works in her favour. She doesn’t play her as a nutcase, just an average girl who stabbed her ex-boyfriend 22 times before slitting his throat.I do enjoy that, it's like they realised Sidney had racked up a massive bodycount (albeit all in self-defence) and decided to really lean into it for Sam.
On an unrelated note, the Samara Weaving part was probably my favourite pre-credits scene since Scream 2. The bit with the guy who killed her being called by the real Ghostface went on FAR too long and ended with the cardinal sin of Ghostface speaking to him in person. Ghostface should always be silent in person and a gobshite on the phone; if he’s yammering away while stabbing someone it totally knackers his appeal.
