Sorry Céline stans, but this has to be the definitive reading of 'I Drove All Night'

The theatrics
The dramatics
The longing
The vocals
The Cyn-isms
The sofa (yes and not even joking)
The Roy Orbison channeling

One has no choice.

In fact, if I may, I would like this to declare this my official Cyn thread and yes clearly this performance is @jivafox & me when we finally meet to duet

It's a 10 by all three of them. Only my mood at any given time would make me favour one over the others.

Cyndi puts more in the tank.

Roy's voice is gorgeous (I really keep meaning to investigate) and whilst Celine is a tour de force (albeit off-peak vocally), and is as engaged as you'd expect her to be, it loses the sensual atmospherics of the other 2. All 10s though, but I just found Dion's surplus to requirements.

Lauper's voice remains one that simply grips me and I totally agree with POP! Re the live setting - she just excels herself.

I didn’t know Roy’s version was so recent compared to Cyndi’s :o I assumed because it was him, that it was an oldie!

(well this was all over 30 years ago but you know what I mean)
