Spain 2019 | Miki - La Venda (1 Viewer)

It’s gonna be María v Noelia if we are going on social media reactions. Both aren’t bad though María’s sounds cheap as fuck, and it needs a revamp. The lyrics are quite risqué though.

Noelia is a bit Pastota Soler-ish and definitely the best of the ballads.

The problem is none of the songs are particularly competitive.

I forgot them all within seconds of listening to them, which is never a good sign.

I think this is the first time in AGES that TVE couldn't care less who goes so they have no need to rig it. Unless they talked in secret with some record company or so. But there's no love storyline no anything, and the songs are all cheap as hell, so I guess the audience will actually decide for the first time in 15 years. Maybe.

The favourite by a mile is Maria, she should win but it depends of their live versions I guess. I couldn't care less, we'll see you in the bottom five once again. :basil:

They all sound like non-starters. Personally I’m more interested in Mystic @Alla getting his crystal ball out and announcing who’s going to win and why :side-eye::disco:

Oh how disappointing! It’s all about the RIGGING!

This year is impossible to tell, they tried to send Famous from day 1, but they couldn't find a decent song for him. I mean, who the hell is going to send a good song to this mess of preselection, where people had to vote listening one minute of the song? It's like voting for movies just watching the trailer. I'll say Maria because she has like 40>% of the votes in every poll, but whatever.

Well they probably will, I can't believe that minger isn't going to send what she wants as usual. But their favourite has the worst song and is dead last in every poll, so it's not gonna happen. Not a clue.

@Alla, which of the entries over the last 10 years or so WEREN’T rigged? I’m particularly interested in ‘Quédate conmigo’ (and to a lesser extent ‘Amanecer’) as that was the last Spanish entry which was properly amazing and totally deserved to be there even if it was rigged

Sometimes TVE and the audience have the same favourite and it seems the public chooses, but WRONG. With Quedate Conmigo it was very obvious too, the 3 jury members were personal friends of Pastora and they made sure with their votes (50%) it was almost impossible one of the other 2 was the winner. Obviously the audiece voted for QC too, but the 3 or 4 hours of preselection was a fucking joke with loads of artists and friends of Pastora saying that QC was the better option. I don't know why they invited the songwriters of all 3 songs to be there because it was humiliating. And the jury thing is not a guess, Pastora told a friend of mine she was gonna telle them to vote strategically because she wanted to go with that song. Her brother tweeted that her fans should vote for QM days before the Final. (He deleted it hours later)

Amanecer was chosen by TVE, no public preselection. And answering your question about the last 10 years, NONE.

“No Puedo Mas” by Famous is probably one of the best national final songs I’ve heard from Spain - a fantastically powerful pop song. I don’t think it will win but how nice to have a song with an actual chorus; it actually reminds me a lot of Tina Arena’s “You Set Fire to My Life”

It was such an obvious winner. It's not bad at all, and much better than last year's horrorfest. I think it might do ok.

Maria gave THE most half-arsed performance of a song I have EVER seen in my life. She REALLY did not give a FLYING FUCK and you could see she was so relieved when she didn't win. :D

I think if her song had been sung by Natalia, who was amazing, then it would have been a closer result.

My favourite song was Noélia's but she was crap live. Surprised she managed to finish 4th.

I think... I might really like this?

When was the last time Spain attempted something so energetic? Am I also right in thinking that it's a stealth pro-Catalan independence anthem?

I didn’t really buy the “María doesn’t want to go to Eurovision” thing as anything other than face-saving until I saw this. :D

As Kala said, a more half-arsed offputting delivery you will struggle to find.

Anwyay I think they made the right choice tonight. Not my favourite song but it’s full of energy and could get a decent result (by Spanish standards).

They just need to tidy it up a bit to keep the fun and spontaneity but make it look less like he’s just jumped onto the stage as a stag night dare.

La venda is basically a drunk party song so it could do well. He's a shit singer though but I guess it doesn't matter on a song like this. His outfits for both his songs were terrible though.

I am REALLY liking this and I think it’s much better than Maria’s song, so thanks love for not attempting to sell it.

Was it obvious? :D I’m losing my mind
:D I've been questioned here several times when I said it was fixed, but time proved me right. This has been happening forever, except when there was no need to do it because TVE and public agreed (like last year). This time they had no need to rig it, because none of the songs is competitive enough to risk a victory, there's no storyline or anything to sell to the public because nobody really cares about them, and they are all with the same record company. They tried at the beginning to send the black guy, who won the show against all odds, but they couldn't find a good song for him. Shame because he was the only one who really wanted to go to Eurovision, the rest doesn't give a shit, and some of them made it clear they didn't want to.

some of them made it clear they didn't want to.

:D Honestly the expression on Maria's face at the end. I can't even find the right word to describe it. This truly is the year of half-arsed performances. More please :disco:

I hope you’re not implying Aquavita or San Pellegrino or whatever was being half-arsed! I was convinced that at least SHE thought she was trying to escape the Phantom Zone

Everyone's still talking about Amaia and the rest of the previous series. I think it was the same with your Pop Idol, when the second series started people were still focused on Will Young and G.G and nobody gave a shit about the obese girl that won, whatever her name was.
The most exciting storyline of the year was a fake romance between the dykes of the series, nothing happened AT ALL, but a bunch of insane teens had a meltdown on twitter everytime they both were in the same room. How can you sell that to the masses? :square:

How are last year’s contestants doing, @Alla? When I was in Spain over Christmas I heard a couple of songs by Aitana over the radio and in bars. Nothing from anyone else though.

I wasn’t really impressed by any of them last night apart from maybe Natalia and Julia.

They aren't doing bad at all, pretty much all of them released at least a single (with a proper video) and are everywhere. Natalia is away ahead from the rest of this last series, she should have a decent career. But the impact of OT2017 was too big and this series didn't live up to the expectations. I doubt anything is gonna come close to the success of Lo Malo, but we'll see.

There didn’t seem to be as much online buzz as last year for sure, though the show trended hugely last night on Twitter.

Natalia was by far the best performer last night. She looked amazing too and kinda showed up Miki on their duet. It was like then the X Factor judge sings with their contestant.

I have no idea how Miki will do, it’s basically a chant rather than a song, but it’s their best entry for a good few years anyway.

Anyway, Miki was always a better choice for TVE than María, I don't think they could handle her "I don't give a shit" attitude. Oh and her boyfriend. It was a BIG scandal when he visited her when she was up for eviction, and he said he wanted to FUCK with her on live tv in a program (mainly) for teenagers, that's something I have never seen before :D Also the state of him... :side-eye:

Host: I was gonna ask you what is the first thing you're gonna do if she's evicted tonight, but I don't...
Pablo: Do you want me to tell you?
Host: No, no need...
Pablo: Fuck
Host: No need, Pablo...
Pablo: FUUUCKK!!

*audience claps* :D

I don’t think he looks that bad. I’d imagine it’s quite pendulous :horny:

Oh no, not my sort of guy at all but who am I to say he's ugly. I meant he speaks like if he's on drugs (he probably is). And she confirmed he's hung as a horse, so yes.

@Alla, Many Questions Zu is wondering why exactly María didn’t want to go to Eurovision. I bet she thinks she’s too good for it :side-eye:

Also, what’s the line which is very obviously a reference to her lady curtains?

Oh I just knew it. I bet he’s also got quite a hairy arse so I shall have to spend the rest of the evening scouring Google Images for hot sexy pix :disco:

Because nobody in Spain gives a shit about Eurovision, everyone knows TVE don't want to win, you'll have a crap staging and no one in their right mind in Spain would see this as an opportunity. Also songwriters don't earn a single penny because they have to give all the rights of the song to TVE. I don't think she actually likes her song and you can tell she doesn't feel it at all.

About the lyrics...

Cómeme, bésame, cógeme, agárrame (eat me, kiss me, take me, hold me tight)
Súbeme, bájame una y otra vez (take me up, take me down again and again)

The second line would suggest a nice BJ. Or many pussy licking, who knows.

:D Why on earth ARE Spain still in the Big Five? Actually it’s like the BBC who obviously never want to win given the slops dished up year in year out, yet seem quite happy to stump up the cash. It’s just BIZARRE

Also, all songwriting royalties going to TVE? (!!!)

They are in the Big 5 because they pay a fortune for sports competitions, that's why. Probably the same reason UK is there too.

And yes, they make you sign you give 100% of the royalties to TVE. No wonder they only receive crap songs.
