Anyone binged the first part of this yet? Highly compelling, despite several media reports of hellish filming conditions and editor manipulation.

Quite a few iconic female contestants, hot guys, terrible queens and perhaps bizarrely Anna Sahlene of Eurovision fame and Wolf from Gladiators.

I was initially put off by the amount of brash Americans, but as the episodes go on you get exposed to more and more from around the world (lots of Brits).
 
Watched the first two last night, doesn't feel great (where are the stakes in they don't actually DIE) but I'm still compelled to watch. I expect it will get better as there are fewer people left in and you get to know the players better

I couldn't understand why so many seemed happy to get eliminated rather than just settling for the umbrella and still having a chance

I've watched the first four. Lorenzo's comedy accent is ridiculous, I'm assuming it's a comedy accent and his name is probably Lawrence or something but it's different every time he talks!

I'm assuming that once I finish this episode I have to wait until next week for the next one which is disappointing.

Quite a few of them seem nice and quite a few of them seem awful, there doesn't seem any point in rooting for anybody specific to win though because there are too many ways of being eliminated randomly.

There are five out now, four next week and the last one the week after.
 
The only bit I didn't love was

Spencer gagging and gasping as he painfully failed to cut out the umbrella, surrounded by people who hated him.

Oh and obviously everything Bryton said and did but that had a simple and satisfying resolve. Although I did enjoy the gay/ not gay holding of hands.

The original series was solid, I just feel like it's a bit of a crap format when translated into an actual gameshow. Lacks the tension, far too many people that you don't even get to see. The only person I'm rooting for is Anna Sahlene and so far she's not even had a speaking part.
 
Outside of the games this is much more like Lord of The Flies than the 200 “stranded on island” reality shows that want to be Lord of The Flies. I love it so far!

When they were talking about them not having a strategy I was thinking it was ridiculous because really most of it is about getting lucky with your first hits so I thought it would never work in the U.K. all that positive vibe stuff but then remembered you have people on Deal or No Deal genuinely believe they’ve just manifested a box changing from £10 to £100,000 so 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s a shame this didn’t work out because it could have been delightful them throwing their pals under the bus one by one.

I was enthralled by his blatant lie that he didn’t vote for her. Looked her right in the eye and didn’t flinch.

There's a very strong psychological experiment around this - there used to be a gameshow (annoyingly presented by Andrew Castle) where the 3 players needed to agree who wins £50000, who wins £10000 and who wins like £2000 or something - if they couldn't come to an agreement within 2 minutes they walked away with nothing. More often than not they all got nothing. It's the same concept. They'd rather take zero than £2000 if someone else is getting £50000.

Binged all 4 episodes that dropped today. Really enjoyed this actually!

Can’t wait for the final episode now.
 
Only gays and an old female immigrant in the final three. This is correct.
 
Phill knocking out four players while giving the campest accusations was quite iconic.
 
I enjoyed these four episodes a lot still though kinda missed there being hundreds of people to kill off a little bit for some reason - I quite enjoyed all the random players who only had 2 seconds of screen time.

I have to say they did a brilliant job of not making clear who would be there til the end. So many of the final 12 barely said a word before they made it that far (if even that). The negative is that they were still introducing new characters in that confessionals room in episodes 8-9 when you’re just kinda done with all that.

overall pretty happy with the final 3. I didn’t want the two extremes to make the end: the cuntiness of Ashley and her shit logic as to what is and isn’t acceptable or the boring worthiness of that British guy Elliott ‘we all should have an equal chance of making the end’… fuck that! It’s not a lottery game!

Obviously Mai has had the most screen time of the final 3 but none of them were big players til about half way through and I don’t think there’s any clear way to predict the winner from the editing.

Agree on both. I was getting so irate watching Ashley claim to Mai that she stepped up on that bridge challenge. Only because no one was in-front of her, she didn’t actually play by the rules they had decided on until is suited her!! And yes the constant “the only way to make this fair is by…” was getting right on my tits, by his logic they should have been tossing coins since RLGL

And I actually tend to agree with Ashley that she didn't HAVE to play by the rules that boring Elliott invented and if she wanted to force Trey to keep going til he dropped then that's fine IF she then did the same thing!!! But she jumped once then expected someone else to step up. It was like they all had a 2 second memory for anything Ashley did.
 
Just finished the finale!! They’re casting for season 2 👏 .. very happy about that because this has been brilliant tv.

Mai!!!! So happy she won.. she played the game harder than most and didn’t coast along like often can be the case in reality shows!
