So she's posted a hint on Facebook of her pushing for the 18th floor in an elevator eight times which has led fans to be certain she's releasing the lead single to her fifth album on Monday, August 18th.

Excited, apathetic, dreading it?

I love how she's widening her pop sensibilities and songwriter skills with each album. There seems to be a clutch of Taylor songs I love on each album.

It feels quite soon but I suppose it has been 2 years. Personally, I can't wait.

I can't believe it's her FIFTH album :o I for one am EXCITED about it, the girl has a knack for a cracking chorus.

She doesn't have any xmas albums or some other sort right? Even though she has been around forever she just felt like a giant chart force with the Red album, the past albums only yielded two hit singles at the most! Especially the one with the "Mine" song (The album title escapes me), she totally passed me by during that period.

Has she even dated enough gay men since the last one to have anything to write about?

after finally coming around to Speak Now I concede that she's gotten progressively better with each album, so I can't wait. I don't know how she can top Red though, which had just about everything.

Red was great. She's getting better with each record, so this should be special

Updated Taylor top ten:

1. Enchanted
2. State of Grace
3. Mine
4. Untouchable
5. Red
6. I Knew You Were Trouble.
7. Tell Me Why
8. Sparks Fly
9. Starlight
10. Come in With the Rain

The top 3, in particular, are exquisite.

Album rank:

1. Speak Now
2. Fearless (expanded edition)
3. Red

4. Taylor Swift

Her voice has truly improved since the debut as well.

as of right now

1. All Too Well
2. State of Grace
3. Last Kiss
4. Ours
5. Treacherous
6. Our Song
7. Long Live
8. Dear John
9. Holy Ground
10. Come in With the Rain

I agree with Chlam, Red (album) was EVERYTHING.

1. Red (I wish I had an impossible crush whom I could sing the bridge to)
2. All Too Well
3. State Of Grace
4. Mine
5. Picture To Burn

the other 5 always vary

It's the live web chat that's a week from today. Last time around, she revealed the album title and released the single directly during and after the chat.

Moderate excite!

The single is called "Shake It Off" and apparently features that horns sound that's all the rage at radio right now.

I HOPE the album is better than Red, which had a few good singles (though most of which I think are pretty overrated) and not a lot else going for it. Speak Now is her best album by quite a margin, but then I think Better Than Revenge and Haunted are among her best songs too.

Wise up John, Red had everything going for it.

I got a bit shaky when I read horns but I can't wait.

We are alone just you and me
Up in your room and our slates are clean
Just twin fire signs
Four blue eyes

So you were never a saint and I love these shades of wrong
We learn to live with the pain, mosaic broken hearts
But this love is brave and wiii-iii-IIIIIIILDDD

"State of Grace" is EVERYTHING. But I, on the whole, definitely prefer Speak Now

I think 'Red' is a terrific album - but I suppose it depends what you want from a Taylor Swift album because it's much less a country album than its predecessors.

"Red" has some GLORIOUS moments - State of Grace, Holy Ground, Red, ALL TOO WELL, Begin Again.

I think I've listened to many times to All Too Well to warrant myself having a VAGINA

I really don't get the FUSS over "All That Well". It's a 7/10 AT BEST

It was the Grammy performance that really sold "All Too Well" to me.

"Red" (album) is fantastic and easily my favourite from her. Out of 16 tracks I'd only skip about three.

I think that, lyrically, is one of her most accomplished efforts!

we can't all like her BASIC lyrics POP!

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling twenty two - oh fuck off you tarty trollop

Taylor is performing on X Factor this sunday, could push this single finally up to #1?

I wouldn't be at all surprised. The way it is hanging around at the top may indicate people are still discovering it and loving it.

Is there anything else big out next week?

"Shake It Off" would really be a 10/10 if it wasn't for that rap. I don't find it as cringe-worthy as some but it just totally kills the momentum of the song.

Anyway, a new track, seemingly a promo release rather than a second single, called "Out of the Woods" is premiering in a few days. Although I assume it will be "Shake It Off" that she performs on X-Factor

I do like that she's using the word 'Hella' three years after it last fell out of fashion. She's such a white girl cliché.

One Direction and Watermät's Bullit.

Listen to "Out of the Woods" here - the new "promo"/"countdown" single.

It's being compared to "State of Grace" from the last album, which I kind of hear in the more atmospheric, Cranberries meets U2 pop fusion, but it doesn't have quite the same sense of uplift or towering feel of "State of Grace" which remains her best moment for me. This is still rather good, though, and I like the general shift in direction. The lyrics are a bit clunky, however.

I love that she insinuates that Harry Styles cried after their snowmobile accident :D

That chorus!! Incredible. Not so keen on the verses and it's definitely not as good as State Of Grace, which is easily one of her very best songs.

sidebar: the current mr ameraal like shake if off so i like it too.

She was helped out enormously by backing singers on the X-Factor, but I wasn't completely nauseated by it all. Probably because I can finally dust off my old Mariah Shake It Off dance routine. And thank goodness she didn't let me down with the comedy talking part. Vanilla would be proud.

This is selling almost 10x what the #2 is selling on US iTunes :o

I wonder if she can pull off another 1 million debut? The buzz does seem slightly heightened again. This song won't chart on the Hot 100, though, due to the instant grat/pre-order 'complete my album' type releases being ineligible now.
