Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department (out April 19th) (1 Viewer)

I must listen to the second disc sometime as the main album was rather enjoyable.

I can only think that the only is down for her from this incredible year, but she'll surely negotiate that deftly.

No-one stays at the head of the zeitgeist forever and the fact that she hasn't ploughed the album for singles suggests that she is fully aware that a backlash was swinging away - not that it stopped her from releasing the album with 20 different 6-hours only bonus tracks but, well, you know. She focussed on the tour and made an enormous success of it.

She reached a peak that only a tiny number of artists experience. Coming down from it will likely be a relief of sorts.

Yeah she’s gets a lot of hate but my God she has really made a career for herself. I would have never believed that squeaky girl singing “Tim McGraw” would have become this juggernaut.

I’m not entirely sure that’s true- she hasn’t released many singles from her last few albums, has she? Lover feels like the last one she properly mined…

I always thought it was an attempt to be seen more as an album artist. The ridiculous multi-formatting and nonsense suggests it’s not about over exposure…

I think there were 4 for Midnights - Anti-Hero, Bejewelled, Lavender Haze and Karma; they all had proper videos anyway. There was also the alternate version of Snow On The Beach but I don't think that was a single as such. But we got videos for all of those whereas we got a video for Fortnight, a cobbled together tour-footage video for I Can Do It With A Broken Heart and that was it. It did feel like a change of pace but, you're right, it's a change consistent with Folklore and Evermore which were perceived as her "serious" singer/songwriter albums so maybe there was a desire to mirror that.

She was also on a fairly extensive tour- that’s going to stop her making proper videos easily.

Although with her work ethic, she probably could squeeze one in, in between Taylor’s Versions…

I wonder if by the time this wraps up for real she'll start preparing (If she hasn't at this point) to release Reputation TV which looks like one of the most awaited by the fans, I bet it'll do MASSIVE numbers.

But after 1989 TV, I have zero expectations for the Vault Tracks if she keeps Jack for this one too.

New song released for 6 hours only on Wednesday.

NB - this is a joke. If it comes true, remind me to pick six numbers between 1 and 49.
