Taylor Swift's new album 'Speak Now' (1 Viewer)

P.S. "Mine" has just been shoved onto iTunes mid release week due to the early leak, already #26 on iTunes

Could it skyrocket enough in sales to be #1 on next week's Hot 100? :o

I can definitely see this vaulting up the radio charts too beginning tomorrow.

"Teenage Dream" wasn't going to make it #1 until a few weeks anyway, let's get T-Swift to block Taio Cruz from getting US #1

:D YAY

And I suppose they DO sound alike - in that they're both COUNTRY-POP and have PROPER INSTRUMENTATION. But that is IT. Melodically they're miles apart.

teen-pop + country-pop crossover = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The International/pop remix:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00tb931 (after the 46 minute mark)

Not that drastic at all but then again it was never very "country" in the first place, the chorus in this version is ever so slightly improved, the verses are little more 'empty' though

I don't think I will even bother listening to that. The original is just wonderful.

I'm sure you will start hearing it involuntarily pretty soon!

Has Taylor's success dented Carrie Underwood in America? Carrie seemed like THE country-pop crossover last time I was out there when Taylor was just blowing up and I'm not sure whether they can entertain the notion of having two massive commercial country singers at the same time.

I wouldn't really call Carrie's music career country/pop crossover, stupidly her label has only sent one (and I guess her winning Idol single too) of her singles to pop radio which was "Before He Cheats" which was a big top ten hit. Surely that suggests that she is a perfect country/pop crossover fit, instead it was the last time she was promoted to pop radio. Her latest single "Undo It", for example, would be a great pop single, but that opportunity was missed.

She is doing great though anyway, her current album has done around 1.6 million which is very good, it will get to 2xp fine by year-end. Plus her catalog sales are excellent, Some Hearts and Carnival Ride sell around 3k and 2k per week, respectively

Carrie's never really had the teens on board in such a big way anyway - well presumably lots of them bought Some Hearts (it's sold 7 million after all) but 50% or more of Taylor's demographic must be teenagers. Carrie's music is a bit more 'adult', or at least marketed in such a way.

A snippet of the 'Mine' video:

So NOT AT ALL SIMILAR to Love Story and indeed every video she's made.

Did nobody post the full video then, I've seen it around on TV a few times recently so that bodes well. Depends what promo she does for it here, but I reckon it'll go top 5.

Isn't there a song called Dear John on Jessie James' album? Or did I dream that?

And has Mine even gone top 5 in the US yet? With an X Factor perf I reckon it could go top 10 here but no higher.

"Mine" debuted at #3 in the US, I thought?

Anyway, 5-6 minute songs :o

It does seem like a good idea to release one a week in the build up, I remember the BEPs doing it which worked well as it got I Gotta Feeling off to a nice start. Though since it's Taylor I can almost see every one of the songs topping itunes for the week and then debuting top 20.

They did the same thing with her last album, it's great marketing to build up some buzz and such. And at the end of the day, these fans are no doubt going to rush to buy the newly released songs individually and then buy the songs over again when they buy the proper album just a couple weeks later.

I thought this whole album was inspired by true events in her life? They kept the headline "TAYLOR SWIFT CRASHES WEDDING" quiet.
