Presumably he is foregoing his fascination with the border, to rally to the defence of ‘our freedoms’ (and to hell with collective responsibility). Much like Boris he really does think he is a modern day Churchill (whom I am sure would have thought they were both prats).

Open justice. All sorts of hearings have been live streamed during Covid. No reason for this to be any different.
 
Good! Like him or not, from a sports point of view, good to have the best present. Not an optimal preparation for the tournament, of course. EDIT: would be surprised if he ends up playing, though.

Also, surely he wouldn’t have gone to meet those people one day after testing positive. There must be more to the story than we know.

The immigration minister still has the right to revoke his visa which may be why he's been re-arrested.

You mean aside from the fact that he’s a cunt, staged a tennis tournament in the midst of worldwide lockdowns, went clubbing with his equally irresponsible tennis buddies at the time and has repeatedly displayed flagrant disregard for Covid guidelines?
 
I really wanted a first round match up between Novak and Nick Kyrgios, the atmosphere would have been fun, but the latter just tested positive for covid.
 
Tennis Australia were explicitly told by the Australian government as far back as the end of November (and ever since) that there could be no exemption granted on the basis of a positive Covid infection.

This really reflects worst on the organisations who approved his supposed exemption.
 
I look forward to seeing whether Djokovic is going to be fucking around like this if and when China start holding tournaments again.
 
WHAT A MESS! They are making a real hash of being able to stand by any sensible or defensible principles now. If he does plays he will definitely win the whole thing and then REVEAL ALL that he really is Jesus reborn. He has a touch of the messianic about him which clearly inspires religious devotion and patriotic fervour - yet also a prevailing view that he is a TOTAL DICK.
 
So he was “released” because of a technicality that he hadn’t been given enough time to make a defense rather than his visa being right or wrong?
 
this is like one of those Netflix true crime docs where it's super obvious the suspect did it, but the police forgot to take photographs at the scene and bungled the fingerprints, so he went free and won the Australian Open.
 
Emma Raducanu just lost 6-0, 6-1 in her first match of the season to Elena Rybakina. Very tough draw against an experienced opponent with significantly more experience. Still, :shock:

Apparently he was also Spain in the 2 weeks prior to entering Australia despite his entry form stating he hadn't travelled anywhere. Oops.
 
Isn’t it partly based on him admitting to breaking isolation rules after testing positive?

I personally don’t believe he tested positive at all. If there’s a positive test somewhere for him in December, he likely knew people who had it and got them to do the test for him and that was always the plan. Otherwise it’s far too much of a coincidence to bank on that to be able to travel to Australia in the first place.
