My first thought was the same - but then I thought I remember him being around when I was a child and he must be a similar age to my father, who would be 80 next year.

But then I find it baffling to think of my father that age, because to me he'll probably forever be frozen at the age he died in his early 60s. Yet I don't question my mother being late 70s now at all.

I think I'm just losing the plot as I get older, particularly around age.
 
I guess you didn’t see him around either- so not like we’ve seen him age.
 
Aww, I thought he seemed nice. The enduring image of him telling Gareth Southgate it was going to be OK after 1996.
