BOXFRESH no more :(

How sad. I hadn't watched it in years and I'm frankly amazed it lasted as long as it did.

But it was truly integral to my experience as a pop music fan in the late 90s and early 00s.

I used to love how random shit like this would be on high rotation for exactly three weeks before vanishing into the ether, never to be heard or spoken of again.

Had no idea it was still active!

My main memory of The Box is when my brother had DIAMOND CABLE and you could ring up an automated system to request a song, and people abused it by requesting the same song over and over.

Also, seeing this on there, and until the advent of YouTube, wondering if I'd hallucinated it.

Box programming seems to showing anything from 1992 to now with a show at 10pm with Lucy Jones about acts that broke on The Box.

May flights of obscure failed girl groups sing them to their rest :(

I remember that :D

What I loved about The Box was that they didn’t really care what was on their playlist - just let the viewers decide via premium rate phone lines.

MTV always felt like it was playing catchup (which really shouldn’t have been the case).

They kinda peaked about 1997-2000 for me. That gorgeous 1970s community cable quality really was the abiding memory. That and just so much Aqua.

I would like to thank The Box for getting me absolutely OBSESSED with this song, only to totally blue-ball me when the single release was cancelled and they stopped showing it so I had literally no way of listening to it for ages.

I loved it as a kid. I think it ended here in the late 90s/ early 00s

They had a better variety than MTV was showing. I’m shocked it was still going

I occasionally still flick through the music channels. Are music videos a thing of the past now? :(
