The By-elections Thread - 2019-2024 edition

Oh god he seems like a fucking fruitcake. BLM is a lucrative money making plot and Covid was deliberately released by china. Stay off drugs kids.

GB News attempted to torpedo her by posting videos of her discussing a Malcolm X speech and painting her as a violent reactionary.
Unsurprisingly, the whole stunt came off as Tom Harwood having no idea about civil rights and being angry because a black woman has opinions on democracy :D

You could have said ‘came off as Tom Harwood having no idea…’ and it would have equally valid. His face is always screwed up in anger, disdain or confusion - so unpleasant.

Fucking hate him, he looks like a varnished cumsock and I’ve never known anyone to have such disproportionate confidence in their own intelligence.

My home town!!!

This is definitely going back to Labour but it will be interesting to see how big a swing it is.

Even if he wins the appeal his position is untenable, no?
Not if he wins his appeal, at least not technically. There wouldn’t be grounds for a recall in that instance (albeit he would be surely be vulnerable to being de-selected). All moot if his conviction isn’t overturned.

I was just reading that even if he's sent to jail, if the sentence is less than 12 months he doesn't have to resign. Fun.

Surely you get at least 12 months for that offence though!

If the sentence is less than a year, and if they didn’t want to wait for the appeals process to be exhausted for the Recall Act to kick in, the Commons retains the power to expel a member for any reason they see fit.

I only discovered the other day the story about the MP who faked his own death and was caught living in Australia and still remained an MP!

And even then you’d hope no one would actually vote for him in the future, unless Jimmy Saville is your spirit animal or something.

He was looking up tractors and ended up on porn, which he went back to watch.
