Picture it: in 2006 Brandon Flowers pops out for milk and pringles and mysreriously bumps into Queen Toni on the throne in her castle where she sees the sun from and unexpectedly we have one my all time favourite miserable yet wistful festive songs (a crowded genre if ever there was one). Toni, who is of course married to the song's producer Alan Moulder, sculled downstairs and took a night off from being a pure dead horror head to be a detached ghost of Brandon's Christmas past (which going on his lyrics about what boys and girls do doesn't sound very interesting). He wants to wish her Merry Christmas. Making hairs grow on Flowers' chest, "can't do that" she shudders like the last gasp of covid. It's a moment to hang on to.
