hmmm. that is quite well worded and the extra context assuming it's true does kinda suggest it's been overblown.
 
She's also not entirely wrong

Sure she made a mistake underestimating what was required. But honestly I agree it could be worse for a pet to be left with a stubborn owner refusing to acknowledge when they're out of their depth.
 
I've no idea if she's a nice person or not in real life.

The lyrics of her songs (which are so idiosyncratic, I'm sure she writes herself), make her albums fantastic to listen to.

She obviously knows how to press buttons, and revels in doing that:

"I'll look at The Sun and I'll look in The Mirror
I'm on the right track, yeah, I'm on to a winner"
 
I mean it's not like she euthanized or abandoned the animal. She returned it to the shelter where the right people could take care of it. Not sure why she even has to defend herself.
 
She's never been a popular figure, and that clearly overshadows her musical output. This thread pretty much sums up how she's seen in the UK.

The subtext in that interview posted above says it all. “At times they were cheering louder for me than for her”

Because you don't just adopt a pet only to give up on it when it's too much work. 🤷‍♂️ That dog will now had to put up with another two moves.

this is very simplistic no? you can adopt an animal with good intentions and it won't always work out. some dogs are higher maintenance than expected. isn't it better for the dog to be in a home that's a good fit?
 
I came very close to returning my cats because one of them was tearing my legs to shreds for weeks instead of settling. And I was in floods of tears at the very idea of it.

A passport is nothing and she is clearly EVIL BEYOND REDEMPTION

She has always tried to be controversial even dating back to when she released Smile. She was always picking fights with celebrities for publicity, and to be fair it did work. I liked most of her music at the time but it is not something I would ever go back to.

I do agree that if she tried with the dog and it didn’t work it was best to get the dog a home that suits it better. Why she had to bring up the passport as the final straw is anyone’s guess though.

No, PETA are just known for being very heavy-handed in their activism. They've done some pretty unorthodox things. They're especially known for storming fashion shows, especially this moment from like 20 years ago

I think most people are familiar with PETA, we have televisions in the UK :D

I think people are more agog that the tweet sounds like a temper tantrum than an official statement
 
despite standing for a good cause in theory PETA have ALWAYS been CUNTS!

they're the kinds of people that do active harm to the movement they want to promote. their response under that tweet is standard for them!
 
I’m so happy that after all this time in the public eye that she’s now able to take criticism well.
