The UK: The Keir Starmer years (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't exactly call Old Oak the outskirts :bad: they will need to improve tube links but it won't be that much different than going into Euston or Liverpool Street or whatever.

Old Oak has no tube links. It’s only on the Elizabeth Line and the overground, and the EL won’t have capacity eastbound to cope with trainloads of people emptying into it throughout the morning rush hour.

This country is utterly useless.

It's an absolute mark on the decline of the UK that we can't complete a modern railway line, that links our relatively small island.

Isn't the small island thing the issue though? Building the thing isn't the problem, planning a route through suburbs and villages, acquiring the land which is higher in value because of its scarcity etc. No one minds a high speed rail line being built in the arse end of rural france but its different gravy when you've got to bulldoze 19 primary schools to get between two cities.

Oh who cares about their education, BULLDOZE THE CHILDREN TOO

The only workable solution is to behead the NIMBYs and stick their heads on the wings of the wind turbines we'll build to send a chilling message to enemies of progress.

I'm just still upset they forced a really nice cider pub near Euston to close for this shit and now it's not even going to go there.

Reeves currently throwing the flop Tory government under the bus. Not that it's a revelation that they mishandled things, but they just didn't bother.

BIG risk on the Winter Fuel Allowance there. The press are going to go doolally over that tomorrow. Yes, it was ridiculous that The Queen and similarly rich old people got it but this is a big move. Labour clearly banking on things being significantly better in 5 years time to the point where folk won't notice.

Fair's fair, I would also want to turn on the out of office rn.

More stunning, detailed and well-sourced reporting from the team at PolitlcsUK.

Without more details and sources, I'm just going to assume Rachel popped round, said "if we can't afford it, we can't have it" and pocketed his passport.

We've went a bit DICTATORSHIP here. ITV at a minimum should have him sit out these interviews, though I would probably go further and say that the husband of a SoS should probably not be a news anchor at all.

yeah that is absurd. he's also not going to be impartial on anything even vaguely related to his wife's position. BBC would get a ton of shit for that, ITV should be fined or something.

Oh that was fucking awful. Someone who wants to be a political commentator should not be given the job of a host.

Congratulations to Sir Keir on having a longer premiership than Liz Truss

"Austerity II - Electric Boogaloo" it is then. I wonder who is going on the bus on Tuesday then? Pensioners again, maybe?

RICH PEOPLE and especially the PENSIONER ONES please, Keir love

When that rule comes in I will sell up this house and fuck off back to Ireland FOR GOOD.

I just about understand a beer garden? But banning smoking in a nightclub smoking area, where you go specifically to smoke?

Did pubs not already lose a rake of business when they introduced the smoking ban? Will this not kill a lot of them off completely?

It seems like a SHITTY thing to do when pubs are already struggling so much.

Personally I’d rather he banned Tracey and Sharon from blowing their ribena and after eight mint vape all over the platform on the underground, but that might be a personal matter
