Their worst single from those days (yes I even prefer Mama but that had WDYTYA as double A side anyway), but released at such a sweet spot in their career, the true peak really, that Victoria doing solo acoustic folk could have been number one at that point.

I think I prefer it more now, it's quite sweet I guess, just a massive comedown from 2 Become 1

Weren't they struggling a bit during this? Released mere weeks after Spice Up Your Life and bringing out the big guns for the campaign: tie in with the movie, a video featuring clips from the former, including different b-sides across two different CDs which included postcards and such; it's as if they knew something was gonna come out wrong.

Why oh why did they insist on going for another ballad was strange, but then again they really wanted that Xmas #1 again.

But that was just the style at the time, Xmas = ballidz

And they got that #1 anyway :disco:

This.

They weren’t struggling at all at this point and they were always going to pull out a single for the movie and definitely for the Christmas number one- there were quite often short gaps between singles at that time as artists rushed to get a Christmas seller out. It’s also the most important sales time of the year for albums and having something out doing the promo was vital for an act like the Spice Girls.

The whole “bsides on different CDs thing” was also a good alternative for a song that wouldn’t automatically fit remixing.

As for the song, it was my least favourite for many years (with the exception of Mama, which I told myself I could ignore as it wasn’t the lead part of that double a side) and probably still is but it’s aged well.

Forever ruined by the Viva Forever The Musical INTERPRETATION where it’s about having too much body hair

At the time it was possibly their weakest, but time has been very kind to it.

A solid 8, strong ballad, great verses and I love the outro mumblings

Not their finest moment. However, I loved the two original b-sides and played 'Outer Space Girls' to death.
