Diddy
愛してるって 言わなきゃ殺す
Never know if I should write Utada Hikaru or Hikaru Utada on here... anyhoo
I was thinking of doing a Hikki BACK CAT thread on here, since there does seem to be some interest in her, usually discussing which of her mid-00s albums is her best. But I wonder if people have done much digging albums-wise.
She has gone through some transformations in sound over the years, her debut First Love isn't THAT appealing in a RnB pop-lite way that is very of its time. At least not if you're listening for the first time in 2020. Distance follows this genre a bit too.
But recently I've been rinsing out Deep River, and this feels like the real birth of the Utada I like. Quite eclectic in sound, and not as much of the noodling she's prone to, as well as some dazzling singles: Travelling (as seen in Diddy's Asian Persuasion), Sakura Drops with its gorgeous video, and Hikari - aka Simple & Clean from Kingdom Hearts.
So why not take a DEEP DIVE?
