I think it could have been another top 5 hit to be honest given her status at the time
I know it had a limited Italian release but I would have loved a proper worldwide single release
With time I’ve grown to love and appreciate it more
It’s the first indication we had lyrically of her “don’t count me out” vibes
Okay the production is probably a bit dated now but it’s really fun

I like it and it was the obvious next single if there was one, but it feels a lot cheaper than the rest and I’m glad it essentially stayed an album track. It shows the strength of the album that it’s my second least favourite song on there…

It's alright. A filler track in LAV for me, but agree that if it was tacked on as a last single in the campaign it wouldn't have done any harm and probably done alright. Not sure if would stand up on the rest of Immaculate Collection or among her singles in this day and age though so probably best left forgotten.

In a world where Dress You Up (and to a lesser extent, Angel) didn’t make the cut, it would never have come near The Immaculate Collection.

OT: It’s a funny, alternate world where Angel was what they originally wanted as lead single, according to some sources. Things might have turned out very different.

That Insta account that does 83-84 Madonna clippings constantly had an article/ interview with it in a while back.

Though Niles in his book claims it was Material Girl til she pushed for Like a Virgin, so who knows.

I like it alright enough but it is definitely at the lower end of this album in a rank.

It never felt like a lost single to me either years ago or today but she could have taken anything Top 10 at that point.

OT: Other than those mentioned imagine having a back catalogue that allowed you to leave a number one like ‘Who’s That Girl’ off your first greatest hits.

Dress You Up and True Blue were the biggest omissions for me.

But I take your point.

I’d temporarily forgotten True Blue was omitted too, yes it’s kind of ridiculous it’s not on there too. A big hit, it’s big Jenny (what she calls herself, nothing to do with weight before someone pulls me) from work’s fave Madonna song which indicates its general listener appeal and one everyone knows.

A 2 disc Immaculate Collection would have been MARVELLOUS. In a lovely chunky CD box. I mean:

1. Everybody
2. Burning Up
3. Physical Attraction
4. Lucky Star
5. Holiday
6. Borderline
7. Like a Virgin
8. Material Girl
9. Crazy For You
10.Angel
11.Gambler
12.Dress You Up
13.Live to Tell
14.Papa Don't Preach
15.True Blue

16.Open Your Heart
17.La Isla Bonita
18.Who's That Girl
19.Causin' A Commotion
20.The Look of Love
(21.Spotlight)
21.Like a Prayer
22.Express Yourself
23.Cherish
24.Dear Jessie
25.Oh Father
26.Keep It Together
27.Vogue
(28.Hanky Panky)
28.Justify My Love
29.Rescue Me

The order might need JIGGLING a bit to make it flow, but it even SPLITS pretty well across the discs.

I can’t remember if 2CD sets were a thing or not back then but if not Madonna should’ve been the one to start it.

A double a-side of Stay/Shoo-Bee-Doo would have been my choice for a single.

Over and Over certainly is nifty.

I agree but I also like the fact that even though at the time it was pushing the single CD format to the HILT at 17 tracks, TIC still felt COMPACT (pun intended), and JUSTIFIED (again) the HAUGHTINESS of the title in not just pissing off the Catholic Church but also in missing out big enough hits because they weren't IMMACULATE :disco:
