What are you gaming? 2023 (1 Viewer)

Anyway, finished Ragnarok and got Miles Morales and Dead Cells.

I’m really waiting for Diablo 4 so these are all placeholders.

Also Marvel Snap on my phone is very addictive.

Ragnorok right now. It's not much developed from the original, but it didn't need a big overhaul really. I'm enjoying it but god every single character is ANNOYING in their own way.

After that I've got a few lined up. I downloaded The Forest which is a first person survival game which sounds interesting so might give that a quick go just to see if it's shit or not. (I played a similar one set on a desert island last year but the controls were too clunky to get into, I don't really get on that well with first person games, so let's see).

I've also got a Resident Evil remake lined up. RE never fails. :disco:

Finished Persona 5 Royal, moved on to Persona 5 Strikers, finished that and restarted Royal so I can max out all of the confidants I missed the first time.

Where do you find the time these days to play +100 hour games?! I struggled with the last 10 hours of SMTIII a couple of years ago and that was barely 40-50 hours AND portable. I loved it, but I cannot imagine how the game can improve in ANY WAY with another 50 hours on top of that.

In more ACHIEVABLE GOALS NEWS I finished Hyper Light Drifter last night. I liked it very much, it was a no-frills action exploration game with a slightly unrefined combat system but great vision and style. The gameplay reminded me of Hotline Miami even if the tone was a million miles away.

I do not have the patience to replay a game that much. Especially one as long as P5. I played once and whatever I got , I got.

I just finished God Of War Ragnarok. I was rather disappointed with it overall, but it was quite fun to play. That chonky
spear
was rather good fun.

Life is too short. I just followed a guide when I played it to make sure I got it in one play through
I really missed it after I finished it so I knew I was going to restart before long. These are probably some of the last games I play on PS4 before I trade up to PS5 in May, so I’m savouring them.

In a way, the length of games has killed my enjoyment of gaming. I might have 4 hours free in a week for gaming, and if then it takes half a year to complete, I've already lost the will to go for the next one.

We’re not very busy??

Also working from home gives a lot of free time. Instead of wasting time in the office, you just play video games.

Well I have lots of things I'm interested in but my threshold of PATIENCE for doing the same activity OVER AND OVER again runs out quicker as I get older (that may explain how my instrument playing is worse now than when I was a child...).

Getting to the end of the story of God Of War took me from 9 November to 20 February. This is why I now finish one game a year :D

I like playing certain games like Dead Cells or Ragnarok when I’m doing side quests as I can also listen to podcasts.

I have over 500 hours in slay the spire but a good chunk of that is on the subway.

I actually play LESS games when I work from home as my 2-hour commute used to be my playing time everyday, now I have to MAKE TIME for it.

I remember Diddy (RIP) saying he watched TV whilst playing things, I can't do that at all. It's one thing or nothing.

My niece can play a game, watch something on youtube, listen to a podcast and knit at the same time. She's 13. Surely her brain is going to give up at some point.

I mean it depends on the game I guess, I've half-watched telly while grinding mindlessly on some RPG, but that's normally a BAD SIGN if the game is not asking for my FULL ATTENTION.

The N64 launched in the UK on this day in 1997.

I queued up to buy it at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street. It was freezing cold and it cost a BOMB. And then my boyfriend never let me switch it on because it hogged our only TV :D

I got an N64 for Christmas 1997 and it is probably still the best gift I have ever received.

Tabletop (though I actually mostly play on forums):

  • D&D 5th edition
  • Warhammer Fantasy Battle, 1st and 2nd edition (different games and I'm gamesmaster in one! :))
Video:
  • Stellaris
  • Fabled Lands (computer version)
  • Star Wars the Old Republic (not for a while but i intend to go back)
  • Star Trek Online (ditto)
Do chuid.

I finally got a PS5 (mainly for Diablo 4) and I started the Miles Morales Spider-Man. I had forgotten how annoyingly padded and empty the first one is and this is more of the same.

I just played this, and it's quite the rare thing - a genuinely good Doctor Who game
It's a 'found-phone' game where you use a virtual smartphone interface to go through texts, emails and videos etc to piece together a mystery. It's also a sequel to one of my favourite episodes of the show (as discussed on a gay-interest podcast a few months ago :tongueout:) and even features one of the actors reprising their role from it. It's quite short (you can do it all in about 2-3 hours) and possibly more of an 'experience' than a game, but I loved it!

I think it's actually available on smartphones which might be the best way to play it, but if you get the Switch version you can play in handheld mode with the joy-cons detached and it's just like using a BIG PHONE :disco:

I'm back into Vampire Survivors and it really has a grip on me this time  There really is nothing quite like getting some of the better upgrades and stomping about like you own the place :disco:

I'm playing Starfield now, and the massive drop in quality in conversations in this compared to Baldur's Gate is insane. Everyone in Starfield is so wooden.

I especially hate when it cuts to your companion and they're facing you dead on despite them talking to the same person you are. Absolutely no concept of cinematography whatsoever.

I was thinking about trying Starfield as I love a good space game... but everything I've read about it (and seen from it) just makes me want to play No Man's Sky again instead. So that's what I've done and honestly, what a fucking game :disco: I'm playing on 'Relaxed' mode (which I don't think existed last time I was into it) and it significantly reduces - but doesn't remove - the survival and resource gathering/management stuff so you can focus on zipping around the galaxy building things and scanning hippos and just vibing. In many ways it might actually be my perfect game.

Somehow I've never played a Metroid game before, but I've been winging my way through Prime remastered on Switch. The music is GLORIOUS and such beautiful locations. I think I was put off for years because it looked like a typical first person shooter. Still not a massive fan of that style, but it doesn't detract from anything here. Some of it is punishingly hard, especially what I assume is one of the final bosses (that flying robot dragon thing).

The trouble is, despite being entirely influenced by the Metroidvania style, Hollow Knight blows it out of the water for me, playing this retrospectively. Talk about taking your influences and making them EVEN GREATER

Been playing Mortal Kombat 1 since Christmas morning. Just in the process of setting up AEW: Fight Forever.

I have Humankind, Spider-Man 2 and Hogwarts Legacy to play, but they're all BIG games so I'll be staggering them over the next few months.
