Thought it was about time for a new one
I'm about 80% through and absolutely hooked. The way everything starts to dovetail in the story is really well done and it's such a fun and satisfying game to play.I got Spider-Man 2 for Christmas, took a little break this week but I'm back into it now. It's very fun! It's basically more of the same with some small improvements, but it's just very high quality and they're managing to tell a decent story (so far, according to the PS5 stats I'm about 60% through so we'll see).
I also bought myself a Steam Deck thanks to a bonus from work, so have been tinkering with that and playing a few things. It has OF COURSE become yet another way for me to play Vampire Survivors (which might be on the way to becoming one of my favourite games ever tbh, mindless as it is ) and I got the Resident Evil 2 remake very cheap so I'll delve into that at some point too.
Yeah, it's basically a mini PC in a Switch-style form factor (you can even get a dock for your TV, though you'd have to pair a controller via Bluetooth). Part of the appeal for me is that I had a decent amount of Steam games purchased from over the years so they'd be available already, but games do tend to be a bit cheaper on Steam than the consoles most of the time (you can also install games from other PC storefronts and add them, though it can sometimes require a bit of fiddling). You would be able to play The Sims on it if you liked - it has touchpads so you can emulate mouse movement, and Steam is really good at letting you customise controls (you can even browse and download controller layouts other people have put online, all through the Steam OS).I've been thinking about a Steam Deck, but I'm still a bit unclear on whether it's worth the investment. I don't play games on Steam, but that's only because I don't really enjoy playing games on the PC. Is it literally a handheld console (I'm thinking similar to the Switch) that runs most Steam games? Also, are Steam games generally cheaper than console games, and are there limitations on what it will run? Presumably, something like The Sims is going to be a pain to play on it, if it even runs at all?
I just wish you got to spend more time with one set of abilities in particularFinished Spider-Man 2. Really fantastic storytelling; I actually got a touch EMOTIONAL at the end. I won't give too much away but later abilities you unlock are SO satisfying to use.
I think I know what you mean and I fully agree.I just wish you got to spend more time with one set of abilities in particular

I'm just getting fully into Sea of Stars and oh my, for a 90s RPG homage it certainly ticks all the boxes. It's meant to be quite heavily influenced by Chrono Trigger (which I've never actually played, I really must rectify that). The music and visuals are utterly stunning and I'm enjoying the battle system, although I'm going in hard by applying the Tactician's Mettle relic which makes battles more challenging and was how they originally intended the game to be apparently.
You can tell it's an independent title, maybe because of how it mimics classic RPGs so much, I don't know what it is (or maybe I just notice because I know and wouldn't otherwise), and I've read the story and characterisation is increasingly questionable (the characters are definitely a bit faceless right now) but fuck me, this is still a lovely magical retread of this era of RPGs....for now! I'm about 6 or 7 hours in I think
Honestly it's far an away the best game I've played in a good whileBaldurs Gate 3 — never really played the previous but swept up in the hype and loving it.
It does what it does so well though that it's worth it, plus all the playstation nostalgia is funAstroBot does look tempting. Nothing original though sadly.
