A friend of mine would like to investigate her and has asked me to recommend an album to start off.

My first instinct would be Les Mots, but it’s not on streaming and he’s more of a studio album sort of guy.

L’autre maybe? I feel like there isn’t really a definitive studio album in the sense that Madonna has Like a Prayer, Michael Jackson has thriller etc.

On reflection I'm leaning towards Ainsi soit je... considering it's the album that really elevated her to superstar status, it's quite diverse musically and it contains two of her signature 80s hits in Pourvu qu'elles soient douces and Sans contrefaçtion

Really you CAN'T GO WRONG with those five imperial albums from Ainsi... through to Innamoramento! :disco:

I'd never heard of Mylène Farmer before seeing the new subforum here 😅 I'd be interested in discovering some of her musique 🎶:)

I would actually say Annamorphosee. It was the first Mylene album I ever bought and look at me now! It’s really well produced and has dated beautifully. The singles are big and bold, but there are some wonderful little album track gems too. And yet it would not even be in my mylene top 5 today. Enough about me though…

But L’autre is the best option probably.

Of her post-imperial era stuff, definitely go with Bleu Noir.
