LOVE the production on this. It feels more sophisticated and shimmery than anything they’ve done before. Another slightly jarring shift into the chorus but I’ll get used to it. I don’t even mind the Lee middle-eight. Definitely a grower.

Everyone is right about the production. For me, the best part is the pre-chorus. Slightly different but still Steps
 
Don’t You Leave Us Halfway has grown on me a lot since last night, it’s sad disco
 
To the One would have been a great closer. The outro with the harmonies :disco:

Never mind, we have a 'bonus' ballad.

I’ll happily give them this considering it’s the one true ballad moment on the album and I guess they feel that they’re a bit past doing something like Heartbeat. Nice harmonies, nice melody (although it rips off about 5 other things), it’s fine.
 
The production is far less tinny, which is either better or worse. I can't decide yet.

I can't decide if I like this one or if it reminds me of This Is Us (Greatest Showman) too much

Why are there 2 versions of this?
 
I think there is a slight delay before the second verse starts on this version
 
New Lisa verse, extended second chorus, extended outro.

Apparently this is track 1 on the CD and vinyl versions - they’re only both on the digital version for some obscure streaming algorithm reason.
 
On first listen, mostly solid but not very remarkable. To The Beat of my Heart should have been the first single. Good thing I have time to listen to that again and One Touch (Mini Viva) before Miley :disco:
 
Anyway most satisfactory.

Strangely despite it being more mixed musically than Tears it does seem like a bit of a regression in places (particularly Heartbreak and Come and Dance) and there was an unfortunate lack of sad bangers.

Still, it has three towering highs that are up there with their best, and most of the rest are keepers.

Now just excuse me while I fuck around with the tracklist a bit.

What does that OH OH OH OH OH OH remind me of? I think it could be something ESC-related oh God actually I think it’s that Icelandic entry I couldn’t stand
