pick a few highlights! and share video if you want, I'd love to see some of the good shit I've missed this fortnight.

I think yesterday's high jump drama was my favourite sporting moment of everything I saw. such a nail biter once they started going DOWN in height... I really wanted it for the sexy American, but was happy for the cute Kiwi too.

other moments like Georgia Bell taking bronze in the 1500m have been really heartwarming too. and obviously any diving event featuring my man Jules Bouyer. :disco:

And athletics was the first time I have probably followed every event. The extent to which you see the track athletes doubling or tripling up on events is impressive. That hadn’t really dawned on me until I kept seeing Femke Bol everywhere.

A shame that many of the GB favourites didn’t win gold but it was almost always fractions by which they lost out (which hopefully bodes well for 2028). 5 relay medals (I think the only nation to do that? @Sheena will know) was also really something.

Mountain Biking - I usually find this quite boring because if you get out infront you’ve normally won but with Tom Pidcock chasing down 40 seconds on the last lap to then steal the Gold using a keen bit of skill in the last minute it was an enthralling watch. I think this was a day we were racking up medals everywhere too.

Canoe Slalom/Cross - Always loved this event and this Olympics I really felt like I knew what was happening in the way the boats ride the water. Cross was a great, chaotic addition.

BMX/Skatebaording - Loved it in Tokyo and loved it again here. BMX men’s was really good with France having the very capable JeanJean and GB Kieran Reilly made for a great watch. But the skill amongst all the men was off the chart and they were all pushing themselves to be top. Exactly what the Olympics should be doing to athletes. They all acted like this was their biggest stage.

I don’t usually find the Tri that exciting but Yee’s comeback was something else and mixed relay is a great watch.

Seeing Yee, Pidcock, and the lady rowers snatching Gold from the jaws of silver live were so thrilling. That day when we got three Golds in as many hours was peak Olympics.

I think it's the men's 1500m final for me. The way it was all about Ingebrigtsen Vs Kerr in the media before, and it looked to be shaping up that way only for Hocker to then SWOOP IN and (the previously leading) Ingebrigtsen to end up with nothing was just great telly. I also loved the commentator dramatically proclaiming that Kerr and Ingebrigtsen had destroyed each other, like it was some greek myth.

Other highlights:

- Keely's gold. Just nice to see a GB athletics hope actually deliver
- KJT and Ben Proud get their first Olympic medals
- Sport climbing, BMX, and Kayak Cross
- Celine up the tower
- All things Marchand, especially the bit in the podium french national anthems when the crowd would sing "Marchand! Marchaannd!" instead of Marchons! and he'd do a little laugh
- Duplantis' world record
- Simone fucking Biles :disco: And also there being space for Andrade to get a gymnastics gold despite her
- The GB diving medals. The brand Tom Daley gets on my tits a bit, but I really love seeing him succeed at the Olympics
- The ongoing suspense of whether the Seine would have too many turds in it for safe triathlon swimming

Also I loved my 36 hours out there and am so glad I went on a mad last minute whim. I loved the events I saw, but my highlight was probably seeing the cauldron in person (I welled up), and then seeing it rise up over the city after sunset from a nearby bridge. The atmosphere was wonderful

I also saw Matthew Hudson-Smith win the 400 metres gold in person and was SO HAPPY and then just massively devastated 2 seconds later when the screen reported that he had not in fact won :( :( :( Oh the agony and the ecstasy

The BMX freestyle, surfing and Raygun.

Teddy Riner winning gold in the judo at a home games was also a great moment.

Yep. The US only for four. They only missed out on the men’s 4x100 with botched changeovers.

And I’m probably the wrong person to ask the main question of the thread about this :D

@Finn what was Paris like out of the events? Was there a buzz about it?
It did feel weirdly quiet in parts (for a big city), in the daytime especially. And the Metro was quieter than in London at similar times. I'd not visited since I was a kid though, so can only really compare it to London rather than knowing for sure how Paris normally is.

I have also never seen so many armed guards/police in my life. But given Paris' fond tradition for marauding ISIS knifemen I felt quite comforted by this. And the arms on most of them were amazing

The atmosphere in/around the events, and between the Louvre and the tower, was unsurprisingly wonderful. I encountered no bad vibes or dickheads

Tom Pidcock was easily my moment of the games, a bit biased because i've been following him for years (I predicted he'd medal back in the Tokyo threads!) but the manner of his victory was outstanding.

I enjoyed Sport Climbing, BMX, and lots of other things besides, although i have seen them before so nothing surprised.

I guess the one i'd not seen before which i liked was Kayak/Canoe (whatever) Cross, even though it did seem a bit like one of those where if you're in the lead after 1 meter you're probably going to win.

Breakdancing was fantastic! It’s such an expressive art form, and I wish to create my own website dedicated to dancing in general. I envision a platform where I can share my passion, showcase dance styles, and connect with fellow dancers.I hope everything will work out, as I’m eager to combine my love for dance with my new coding skills. It’s exciting to think about the possibilities for my website and how it can inspire others in the dance community. What features would you recommend including on a dance-focused site? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
