No love for VB’s LIKE THAT?
No is shouldn't be like THAT, not fooling ME
Damn his LOVIN' damn his LIES, they're buggin' ME
No it shouldn't be like THAT, he's trying to BE
Trippin' out like all the GUYS, why can't you SEE?
Bless you my lovely. If it's okay with you, I think I'm still going to spare myself from listening to it. On a separate note, I'd totally forgotten that her album cover was the inspiration for the 'crap taxidermy' FB page.
Not at all. I couldn't be arsed with her 21 years ago when she released the album and NME called it "a new low in shameless pop slaggery". I bought Kylie's 'Fever' instead and have no regrets.Scared you will like it?![]()
VB’s album is one of the stronger solo efforts tbh, and Like That is def my sultry gem of choice too
I’m sorry Bev but I have to disagree, and I’m a big VB apologist around here!
Perhaps it was the most expensive effort, but it’s definitely not the best nor the strongest! (The theory of it being expensive was thrown around DenDen so many times it became an urban myth) but when you had the Mel B album with Darkchild, Missy, Sisqo, and others and Mel C’s with William Orbit and Rick Nowels, I highly doubt the money went into producers, remember she got Willa Ford rejects and working with the Underdogs whose sole credit was Craig David at the time, but rather it went into using the latest equipment and technology to make her sound listenable.
It was during this album that she adopted this nasty annoying habit of making GASPING sounds at the end of some sentences, the attempts at belting (see: Not such an innocent girl) were laughable and the key changes (see: a mind of its own) didn’t favor her at all! This album just highlighted what a glorified backing singer she was, what Geru lacked in vocals made up for it with chutzpah and catchy straight out pop songs; VB during this time was playing it cool but it all seemed a bit too forced and insincere.
Compare the small amount of vocals she has on the Spice album, like SYBT or Love Thing to some of her solo songs and the difference is abysmal. Even her verse on Headlines sounds like someone who just gave up and hadn’t rehearsed in ages. I love Let Your Head Go but the voice is so processed it puts Britney to shame.
