Album Lexicon in June.

On first listen I'm not wild about the first verse, but after that it is pretty wonderful. Glad he unretired anyway.

Is it just me or does his hairline look rather... suspicious, on that single cover?

Hairline or no, he still looks like a Canadian "Singles In YOUR Area" advert.

this is fine, but a bit "mum disco" - definitely not the new Jealousy. is Richard X behind this?

God he really thinks there's something outré about playing gay stock character dress-up doesn't he

He's clearly been suffering in that respect for a number of years. Theres definitely some sort of enhancement going on on top.

I agree with FF about the first verse, which I find borderline unpleasant. It does pick marvellously after, though.

The video feels like something Robbie Williams would have done 20 years ago.

i really like this, first verse included, and i'm glad he's embracing his dad bod but that video is mega cringe.

That’s not a dad bod but those y fronts certainly are

LOVE THE SONG- Back on form after the last album
ACTUALLY DON'T MIND THE VIDEO AT ALL- it certainly will get people talking
I WOULD GIVE IT UP TO WILL YOUNG TOTALLY- I'm such a bottom
BUT WEIRDLY I'D ALSO BREAK THE DIRTY LITTLE SLUT- I'm such a top
THE TOUR IS COSTING £57 IN PORTSMOUTH GUILDHALL- Fuck that

I thought the last album was pretty good

Brave Man, Thank You and Gold were all brilliant

Not sure what to make of all that!

I’m out of the loop, how’s he doing in Blighty? I didn’t think times were that hard to become a gay interest only act, I thought he’d still have enough following to pay the bills.

Can you believe it’s been 17 years though? That’s frightening

I got the impression that the last album was a bit of a flop for him, but looking at the stats it looks like it spent 26 weeks on the charts, which isn't bad at all even in today's shitty sales climate. It definitely felt like his heart wasn't really in it, though.

It felt really odd. He changed label and seemed to back away from the sound of Echoes which did well for him. Love Revolution was quite shit and then the other singles kind of reverted to what he was doing before though less well. I didn't bother with the album unlike his previous efforts.

This new album is quite exciting, though billing it as a sequel to Echoes definitely builds expectations. In amongst the multiple bundles on offer on his website there is some blurb which suggests that the album may be slightly less dominated by the Richard X productions and Kish Mauve cowrites than Echoes.

I have two major issues with this really:

1. It's 2019 and yes it's great that he's embracing his homosexuality and is doing a nice sexy video and all that but I would have preferred it if he also showed his cock. Not necessarily because OMG I'M GAGGING FOR IT* but because it would have been, y'know, fresh.
2. The song isn't great and sounds like any other Will Young song and could have been taken from any of his albums. Boring and certainly forgettable and just not needed in 2019.

(* okay maybe a little bit)

I have been listening to Will on Spotify for a while now - I actually love him as an artist, and I generally have a huge preference for female vocalists/artists; but Will is one that contradicts that - see Years and Years, and Drake when he chooses to include a melody

Jealousy remains a work of art, this is good, need to listen to it more...

I never really knew Will apart from the singles, but 'My silent Valentine' really is:cry::cry:

I wonder though

When he goes on tour this year will he performs all his classics like Friday's Child, Leave Right Now, Evergreen, Chick Fit and Jealousy ?

I’ve been surprised by how well he’s done for years. He’s never been someone who seems to be in the foreground but his albums all sell really well...

Thinking of all the reality shows that came after Pop Idol, it’s amazing he is still around

I hadn’t realised he was now independent though, but hope this is a success for him

I find it interesting that a lot of the ‘first’ Idol winners are very much still active nearly 20 years on. Will, Kelly Clarkson, Guy Sebastian in Australia etc...

I’m sure there’s some thoughtful theory behind it, but I happen to think it’s probably just because those shows were solely focused on finding singers, not personalities.

That’s not to say Will Young and Kelly Clarkson don’t have personalities, but that isn’t what people voted for. Everything that happened in their careers evolved much more organically, rather than being prepared and manipulated for the benefit of a TV show.

Little Mix are probably the only significant latter day example, but again their X Factor narrative wasn’t particularly EXCITING. It was more of a means to an end than anything else.
