Festival Di Soldi - The Final (VOTING CLOSES FRIDAY 8PM)

And going back to giving him the DOUZE last time, Nediya wouldn’t be my most played song on Spotify since if I was giving him 12 ‘just because’ (Not that I even knew at the time)
I also don’t think I was aware he’s actually from LEBANON at the time either, so didn’t make the link with the artist and whatnot.

I've had about 8 different guesses as to mine. What I will say is that I probably went out in the semi final anyway in an amazing twist. :(

Next time we play this, the twist should be adding a -1 point to the voting.

I’m conflicted about Comoros and Cuba both being established songs. Venezuela’s established act isn’t so problematic as I just don’t like the song.

I’m pleasantly surprised to have made it to the final. But now I’m here I want to fucking win.

Just a little reminder that this is still RUNNING and I still need everyone’s VOTES. Some of you were so keen to get things sped up this week, moaning that you knew the songs already so didn’t need to tune in on Friday (@RaspberrySwirl), yet I’ve only had one set of votes in so far.

I would need to listen to some of the songs again, so will be voting when that is done.

What a nice little Sunday arvo treat going through all these again. I think it is wide open, about 15 of these tracks I could see happily winning or otherwise bowing out in 19th, it's pretty hard to tell.

01 Venezuela - Alex Newell - Boy, You Can Keep It
This is fun, but methinks it will get lost in amongst everything else.

02 The Principality of Sealand - Les Rita Mitsouko - Le Petit Train
Nah, not for me.

03 Ethiopia - K/DA - POP/STARS
This is alright, but the other K Pop girlband is my track of choice.

04 Saint Pierre & Miquelon - Frida Sundemo - Indigo
Yep on board with this. A contender for some points.

05 Japan - Otoboke Beaver - Don’t Light My Fire
So batshit, great to have a change of pace. But I don't think I can physically listen to this for too long, it's just screaming innit?

06 Iceland - Alpines - Completely
I do wish this built up to something a bit more like it feels like it will.

07 São Tomé & Principe - Aérea Negrot - Todeloo
Another one I just can't get into.

08 Slovakia - LOVA - You Me and The Silence
Bit Sigrid this one. Good.

09 Hungary - Holychild - Hundred Thousand Hearts
This is my pick for the winner. I'll be shocked if this doesn't make the top five. It's a pretty good pop track, definitely getting some points.

10 Portugal - Ariana & The Rose - Night Owl
Good to have another out-and-out pop track. Nice beefy production.

11 R.Z.A. Municipalities - DAF - Der Mussolini
Better than I thought the first time. Not really my thing, mind.

12 Tuvalu - Byrta - Minnist Tú
I love the beat on this one.

13 Lyon - Voilaaa - Spies Are Watching Me
I do like this, but I also have a short attention span and I do find it a struggle to make it all the way through.

14 Western Sahara - Holiday Sidewinder & PBO - Born on The Wind
I do like this. Not as much as a couple of the others in a similar style, but a welcome addition.

15 Ghana - Bree Runway - What Do I Tell My Friends?
Seemed to be popular to start with and then people got over it. I still enjoy this one.

16 Uruguay - Pink Fantasy - Fantasy
Yep still love this. Nearly fees a bit like a cross between Eurovision and Girls Aloud. The most 'Devil'-esque track here and it certainly hits the spot :disco:

17 Belgium - Charlotte Adigéry - High Lights
It's ok, not quite basic enough for moi

18 India - Bhoomi Trivedi, Raja Kumari - Husn Parcham
Jolly good fun

19 Slovenia - MDNGHT - Into The Night
Doesn't hit me quite as much as the first time (possibly something to do with the very attractive singer) but this is still up there. I reckon a top five finish.

20 Comoros - Imany - Don’t Be So Shy
Enjoyable. Not in my top five but solid.

21 Cuba - Nathalie Cardone - Hasta Siempre
It's ok, but not my cup of tea. Surprised this was one of the front runners.

22 Vanuatu - LeBrock - Please Don’t Cry
This passed me by in the first round, I really quite like this. Bit like a dancy version of those American mid-tempo's ('Lips of an Angel' type tracks) that I oddly always have a soft spot for

23 Babylon - Khruangbin - Maria También
A grower here, didn't consider it first time but definitely in contention now.

24 Norway - Matoma feat. Josie Dunne - Sunday Morning
This bangs a bit more on headphones it has to be said. Quite the chorus.

25 Gilead - OMFG - Hello
Sorry, but I think this is great

This will be harder than I thought to vote, I genuinely like at least half of the tracks.

Okay, I've voted. Time for the Tart Report on our finalists.

01 Venezuela - Alex Newell - Boy, You Can Keep It
No, seriously, I don't want it. Okay, that was mean - it's a perfectly serviceable song, just nothing exciting.

02 The Principality of Sealand - Les Rita Mitsouko - Le Petit Train
The only way this petit train will become socially acceptable is if it passes through Eschede.

03 Ethiopia - K/DA - POP/STARS
I expected to like this much more than I actually do. I prefer the other East Asian girl group.

04 Saint Pierre & Miquelon - Frida Sundemo - Indigo
I have absolutely no recollection of this from the semi-finals. Has the makings of a banger.

05 Japan - Otoboke Beaver - Don’t Light My Fire
I've tried to listen to this without smiling, but I can't. What a balls-to-the-wall BRUTE this is.

06 Iceland - Alpines - Completely
I still don't know if I like this, which doesn't bode well considering I've already voted.

07 São Tomé & Principe - Aérea Negrot - Todeloo
Yes, off you pop. I'm changing the locks while you're gone.

08 Slovakia - LOVA - You Me and The Silence
I'm fine with the 'me and the silence' bit, it's just you I'm not keen on.

09 Hungary - Holychild - Hundred Thousand Hearts
In my original notes I just wrote 'Chorus!'. I stand by every word of that. I can see this becoming a staple of my Spotify playlists from now on.

10 Portugal - Ariana & The Rose - Night Owl
The okayest song in this year's contest. If this was a film, it would star Matthew McConaughey.

11 R.Z.A. Municipalities - DAF - Der Mussolini
A loving tribute to Geronimo Mussolini, and what a banger it is! I love a good beat when I'm goose-stepping.

12 Tuvalu - Byrta - Minnist Tú
I actually quite like this. It sounds like it should be on the soundtrack to an indie film where Emma Watson wears a beret to show how quirky and different she is.

13 Lyon - Voilaaa - Spies Are Watching Me
If I was stoned, this would be an easy 10/10. The ADHD means my attention wanes after a bit, but a great song.

14 Western Sahara - Holiday Sidewinder & PBO - Born on The Wind
I've listened to this several times and remember nothing about it. Just writing this I had to check my notes to see which one it was. It's basically musical rohypnol.

15 Ghana - Bree Runway - What Do I Tell My Friends?
Her name means 'cheese catwalk'. I have nothing further to say.

16 Uruguay - Pink Fantasy - Fantasy
The end credits of a million animes, and I'd probably watch them all.

17 Belgium - Charlotte Adigéry - High Lights
It's cute, but ultimately it just didn't have enough substance to be a contender for me.

18 India - Bhoomi Trivedi, Raja Kumari - Husn Parcham
This slaggy nonsense is probably as authentic as Ed Sheeran within its own genre, but I fucking love it.

19 Slovenia - MDNGHT - Into The Night
This is proper chilled, I really enjoy it. The aural penis embargo seems to have lifted around here, so fingers crossed this does very well.

20 Comoros - Imany - Don’t Be So Shy
Apparently the most famous song ever written. A bit Kosheeny, definitely one of my favourites.

21 Cuba - Nathalie Cardone - Hasta Siempre
Pleasant, but more than once I've forgotten it was on while still listening to it.

22 Vanuatu - LeBrock - Please Don’t Cry
God loves us and wants us to be happy. This is proof.

23 Babylon - Khruangbin - Maria También
Takes ages to get going, and isn't worth the journey when you eventually arrive.

24 Norway - Matoma feat. Josie Dunne - Sunday Morning
SNEAKY CUNT. This passed me by entirely during the semis, but it's a little belter.

25 Gilead - OMFG - Hello
I'm lying on the floor, unable to move... The delicate interplay between @ZenGiraffe's vocals and the driving, persistent beat subtly underscores the importance of the social message behind this composition. Bugger off, Adele. Lionel, fuck you and your shit family. This right here is the best song called Hello ever written.

I'm in a mood to mark down some of the basic bitch stuff that I gave points to last time. It's just one of those days. Soz to those it concerns.

The votes are trickling in nicely so far, so no angry tagging just yet.

I’ve been thinking of running this late Saturday afternoon into early evening. Starting around 5 ish then finishing just before the rewatch at 8. How does that sound?

I like the sound of that. We'll be at my parents unfortunately but I'm sure we can dip in.

@Soldi just let me know when you need Bip's surprise half-time perf yaaaaaaah?

My note pad consisted of every song with an up or down arrow depending on what's grown on me and what's grown off. I think my votes are actually pretty different to the semis.

Glad it's not just me!

My Moopy weekends are OVAH now of course :( but I shall try and keep an eye on things to throw my victory party and also a shitfit when Fucking Gilead doesn't come LAST like it SHOULD

Every time someone is mean about Gilead, it gets more points from me.

It's currently on 164 points from the Indie jury.
