Record Store Day

Managed to get to Rough Trade and bagged a Dannii and a Dead or Alive, so all good!

I’ll try and find Kim later.

Well Kim, it seems, always causes a RSD headache of some sort, and this year it was (here) that the order of hers didn’t arrive for RSD so there were none in the only 2 accessible stores I was able to try.

I did get Dannii, Shakespears Sister and Dead Or Alive. I picked up a Dannii in each store, just in case I decide to flog the spare one or give it to someone I know who couldn’t get to a store today should they want one. I do like the new version of Put The Needle On It.

Got Suede and Charli XCX so I’m happy

There were loads of Dannii and Shakespears Sisters copies as well as a single Kim copy

I just didn’t fancy them

I saw Dannii and Shakespear's Sister in Rough Trade at around 4pm. Didn't notice Kim. Just breathed a sigh of relief I didn't have to stress about anything again this year. Heard one of the staff say it was 'perhaps a little quieter than last year'.

I’m actually really annoyed with myself as I assumed the Suede was an edition of the original Sci Fi Lullabies, completely overlooked it was Volume 2.

The staff at the first store I went to felt it was busier this year than the equivalent day last year but the weather was lovely here this morning which maybe helped.

Wandered into Love Music today and got everything I wanted - Charli, The Fall and both Wire releases. Also picked up a few record by Dundee's finest, Spare Snare - I have a few of their albums so it's a genuine Brucie Bonus.

Just went to my local store to see if I could bag a Kim and this year’s overstocks appear to be Taylor (they had about 20), the Oasis box set (racks and racks) and Charli.

Also, didn’t realise Kim is only an EP with four remixes total, only two songs, Less bothered now.

That's interesting, Charli was one of the first sell-outs at one Glasgow store, Swift was the first sell-out reported by another and the Oasis box was reported as a very fast seller by the store I was in this morning. This is why the online sales being quicker makes sense; so many regional and local variations in demand.

The Oasis box set is already going for double the price on ebay.

Yeah but is it actually going or is it people just listing at that price?

Some people panic buy too…

Ah didn’t know that about Kim either so don’t feel annoyed about that now either.

I definitely noticed a younger female dynamic in the queue this year which was good to see. It seemed to be Charli, Gracie and Taylor responsible though i could hear them complaining about scalpers getting to all the Charli XCX stuff first as it sold out very quickly.

Oh from its instagram, our local was VERY MUCH middle aged (often gammony looking) white men. I appreciate I am not immune from that criticism. :D

I’ll probably list my spare Dannii a bit later in the week when the retailers have sold their unsold copies online as haven’t heard of anyone missing out, but I’ll do it at a reasonable price.

3 copies of Kim still available in Bristol, or at least was an hour or two ago.

Unfortunately he's on his way home now, but I can pop in tomorrow and check, if anyone is still after it.

I’ll take one if you find one, but don’t break your neck over it.

I've ended up not being too bothered about the Kim remixes. I haven't even bought the album yet, I'm fully anticipating a deluxe.

The Dannii looks nice but probably isn't justifiable for the one new mix and I have decided against the Suede b-sides volume 2. I'll buy the bundled CD if it ends up at a decent price.

So I am down to looking for Sam Fender and Rachel Chinouriri on Monday evening.

I got the Sugababes Taller In More Ways today but that’s all that tempted me this year

Suede in short supply, I'm reading. Shops getting 2 copies and that sort of thing. Given that they're inveterate reissuers, I'm sure it'll be back on vinyl soon, on "shivering vein blue vinyl" or something.

Did anyone both with the online hunger games? Poor Resident in Brighton had their database go PHUTT.

I thought Suede had announced a new edition of Sci-Fi Lullabies already but it turns out it's the original album rather than Vol 2. Either way, those buggers hardly let their fans get to the run out groove these days.
