Can a pop star ever hope to make it out of a rut like this and be taken seriously again?

The pointless spaceflight is quite problematic too, a ludicrous display of excess that seemingly only achieves OPRAH TEARS and POLLUTION.
I think she has enough talent to be a hitmaker again. The voice is still there obviously. She just needs to avoid working with people like Dr Luke that have so much baggage attached to them and not bring out computer generated lyrics. Can a pop star ever hope to make it out of a rut like this and be taken seriously again?
I mean that tour setlist she posted in space is 85% amazing.Even if she never has another hit, she'll be able to make money off touring for as long as she wants to because Teenage Dream alone contains more GP recognised bangers than most popstars' entire careers.
I think Katy's problem is that (you may say wrongly) people will feel VINDICATED in bullying her. Because this hasn't exclusively been about a pop star being a little bit shit. The Dr Luke support is genuinely rather problematic.
"I feel super connected to love," Perry said shortly after emerging from the New Shepard crew capsule, in an interview that was part of Blue Origin's mission webcast.
"It's not about me; it's not about singing my songs. It's about a collective energy in there," Perry told Thompson. "It's about us. It's about making space for future woman and taking up space and belonging. And it's about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it. This is all for the benefit of Earth."
I don't disagree with that.
But I wonder what % of the people piling on even KNOW about that? Because I bet it's rather low...
I do agree with this to be honest.Yes, I know it's clickbait and yes, I know I've fallen for it and yes, I know I'm banging on, but this came up this morning on social media and it's really boiled my piss. "Ultimate insult"? If I'd flown to "space", I'd be FUCKING HAPPY to get back down as well, and I might have kissed the fucking ground. And how are the astronauts "stranded in space", like they're lost and gone forever? No, they were trained NASA astronauts who knew the risks. Who the fuck is actually "slamming" her? Just online trolls mostly. The article itself is scathing without ACTUALLY saying anything of any importance, there is barely a mention of the other passengers and the only "balance" quote (right at the end) starts with "They’ve called Katy Perry irrelevant since 2017". It's media bullying at the absolute worst, before you even get to the unflattering photo.
Thing is, when everyone liked Katy Perry back in the day, I couldn't stand her music- and I have no real interest in her as a celebrity, but it's just going too far...

I do think the whole space thing thing was ridiculous - calling them 'astronauts' and all that sort of rubbish, and the whole enterprise being a massive advert for Bezos etc.
But now that the initial memes and laughs about the entire mission have gone a bit quiet, there seems to be a more singular aim online (by trolls, yes) at Katy Perry - which is, I suppose, the easy option given that she is the most famous person out of all of them; and of course her current 'flop' era blah blah etc. etc.
But, really, isn't that the very definition of bullying?
That's classified information!Ur so gay KC.
It's PITCHFORK, why wouldn't they be talking about the music artist!?WHAT ABOUT JEFF FUCKING BEZOS’ CLASS?
Fuck me…
what's the argument? that if anyone is getting critique it should be Jeff Bezos, not Katy Perry? right - but she's the one who's chosen to front this brainless exercise in narcissism. she must have known she'd get all this heat for it (and presumably she's OK with that). maybe the idea is that all PR is good PR. or maybe she's stupid enough in an LA way to believe that genuinely this is some milestone for feminism.WHAT ABOUT JEFF FUCKING BEZOS’ CLASS?
Fuck me…
At one point, all the women looked at the camera and defiantly yelled, “Take up space!,”
