You know what I mean.
You know what I mean.
The Shuggie audiobook was good if that would help? What was it that put you off?Reading My Policeman now with an additional audiobook remix edition.
Afterwards I might try and reattempt Shuggy Bain.
But I still have more Hollinghurst on the brain.
Oh no, I was just going through some stuff when I started it and it was bringing me down ever further. Nothing about the writing itself. I've got the audiobook too so thanks for the tip!The Shuggie audiobook was good if that would help? What was it that put you off?
currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers in anticipation of the Hulu version starring Queen Nic. early signs are that it's QUITE GOOD.
Read it last year and loved it!currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers in anticipation of the Hulu version starring Queen Nic. early signs are that it's QUITE GOOD.
I've never read it! I must do before the Queen unleashes the full Queens Of The Summer Hotel album (OUT IN NOVEMBER)I've dug out Girl, Interrupted in honour of the QUEEN OF POP returning. Probably not the wisest thing to read RIGHT NOW but OH WELL.
I mean there's only so many vivid descriptions of bumfucking even I can take!!
What are you in the mood for?I am at a loss what to read next. I have stuff on my kindle (Shugie Bain and some non-fiction) but I don't think I can be arsed.
I'm really not sure. Possibly sordid gay fiction, or maybe a relatively light and readable fantasyWhat are you in the mood for?

Thanks for the suggestion, I got this recently as the Kindle edition was rather cheap and it's quite good, I hadn't read a melodrama in ages.I’ve started this, in preparation for our lord and saviour Harry Styles gay baiting us all in the upcoming film
I finished it on Monday having devoured the last 200 pages or so in one sitting. it's delightful! the prose oscillates between genuinely sharp and witty and a little undercooked, and the characters are mostly pretty stock, but the story is really enjoyable, I laughed out loud several times, and there's a very tastefully done subplot about a deceased person that did make me a bit teary. Nicole will have SO MUCH FUN with the Masha character.Oh I need to do this too!
Aren't they all exactly the same anyway? A constant stream of lithe youths called Tristram and their adventures up "the other"?Well I'm reading this now and I think I think! I may have finally had enough of Hollinghurst!
This one takes the cake though.Aren't they all the same anyway? A constant stream of lithe youths called Tristram and their adventures up "the other"?
Oh nooooooooThis one takes the cake though.

Dan 'Danny'
They drive 80mph to classical music when they're not pissfucking.
Favourite line so far: 'Darling, I AM my toilet.'

WHY?That being said I do recommend it!
Oh yes it's often referred to as 'ghastly'.The implausibility of listening to classical at 80mph is TOO MUCH and you can be sure it's fucking BAROQUE. Have these boys never heard of techno?
WE SUPPORT QUEER FICTION AT MOPSYWHY?

In all seriousness when it comes to Hollinghurst I would strongly recommend The Line of Beauty and The Swimming Pool Library. I do believe The Spell is considered to be the runt of the litter so no surprise there.
Any GOOD queer fiction anyone can recommend? Although I'm quite tempted to read this one for reasons of sheer awfulness
