I think the DJ Earworm concept stopped making sense between 2019-2020 tbh; streaming really did render it pointless especially because back then you could easily tell what was a genuine hit and which songs weren't, I don't know if it makes sense. also the fact they were easily recognizable and had that remix sensitivity to them.
Like a 2023 one would feature Cruel Summer (2019) and the current #1 single by Jack Harlow but I've read/heard literally ZERO conversations about it plus others that "armies" sent to #1 for a week and then disappeared (Seven, First Person Shooter, Slime You Out)...hardly an iconic run of #1 singles and would frankly sound like a nightmare.
