EastEnders 2025 (8 Viewers)

I really do not like what they've done with Kathy these last few months.

I'm sure I've never seen an EE couple I want to root for less than Lauren and Peter.

Apparently when Lauren gives birth, it will only be the third time in the show's entire history that a 2nd surviving baby has been born to the same two parents (not counting twins). The others were Billy and Honey's kids and Kim and Vincent's.

It doesn't sound like a lot but apparently it's only happened twice on Corrie and it's been going for 65 years.

That's absolutely wild.

Trying to rack my brain, but nothing is coming up.

An achievement that loses it's lustre a little when you remember baby one was about ten head swaps ago for Peter Beale.

Sally and Kevin, and surely Gail & Brian Tilsley? SURELY there are more than that. I know them and haven’t watched Corrie for over 10 years.

I’ve just seen Tiffany Butcher was conceived in a spin-off show but born during the period when Bianca left, so it seems this is actually correct :o

Those are the only two apparently! I can't be totally sure that there weren't any during the very early years but nobody seems to have been able to think of an example. Definitely nothing more recent than that, apart from a couple of twins and a set of quads.

How many soap relationships (particularly amongst parents of childbearing age) in soaps ever last more than a couple of years? It is a ridiculous stat, but when I think about it, not surprising.

Wouldn't Peter and Susan Barlow be an earlier example?

Kat and Alfie were together about 10 years initially (although a lot of that off screen).

Can't recall but I'm sure Bianca/ Ricky, Ian/ Jane and Linda/ Mick all had reasonably long runs.

It works out though. Even though Linda and Mick have four children, only one was born during the show. Kat and Alfie have twins of course but Michael is Tommy’s father.

Stacey had 3 children on the show, all different dads.

Kat and Alfie would definitely have been in the club had they decided to retcon Alfie’s infertility sooner.

I was responding to Lolly's point about long term couples, I realised that none of them had more than one child, aside from twins.

I know Michael is Tommy's father, but I have no recollection of Kat and Michael getting together (despite it being during a golden era).

I guess my point should be more long term couples starting families. I know it's hardly good drama to have stable families, but for there to be so few examples of two individual births from the same two parents across both soaps over a period of over a century between them is astonishing.

But then I guess it's not like the murder rate reflects reality either.

They always come in as a seemingly stable family, and they it all goes to shit in Walford. Brannings and Fowlers are other ones, 3 children each but only one on screen (and Max has his 3 with Tanya sandwiched between 2 others).

Ruby really is lying to herself, isn’t she? She never even loved Martin and was only ever with him to make Stacey jealous.

Strong @Mary Whitehouse energy here :disco:

In all fairness it’s more believable that they have at least two brats before they fuck off. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything….:eyes:

Sonia will find out about Bianca doing that interview so she will chuck her out and she will leave and then she will do celeb BB make a shit load of cash and fuck off back to LA and live happily ever after. THE END

When does Sonia actually leave it must be soon? she's been banging on about it for the last 6 months on LIFE WITH NAT pod

But of course it was all geared up to make us think she would be a death in the live eps

Not ANOTHER sudden Letitia Dean departure.
It does seem rather odd, especially the throwaway line at the graveside where we were told she was too upset to be there and wasn't up to it.

I've read rumours she has cancer, which explains so many short absences and the obvious wig situation with her hair, and the gravelly voice.

Hopefully she's okay.

Catching up now. Funny how Robbie, Whitney and Tiff are contacting them all when the podcast is out, but seemingly didn’t care much when Sonia was in prison and Bianca was missing.

I sincerely doubt underage Lily would lose her daughter over the fact that she burned down her own Dad’s market stall. Why do they always get so dramatic? Ruby would face worse with her record.

Stacey can be very unlikeable, I was siding with Ruby more
Maybe, but Ruby’s wild statements about loving Martin have never ever been true. I seriously don’t remember her even liking Martin, and she only ever seduced him in the first place to piss off Stacey. And the last year with Roman - how was that ever anything other than getting together for the sake of a child, because Martin just happened to be single at the time?

Well, Martin’s big speech before he died about loving and fancying Stacey the second her saw her was also weird.

I don’t even remember Martin and Stacey having any real interactions when she first arrived. She was with Bradley the whole time and her relationship with Martin kind of came out of nowhere when it first started. He was always a safe rebound after Bradley, Max and Ryan.
