Euro 2024 (2 Viewers)

I do think this is Harry Kane's last match as captain though. He's had a bad tournament and can't play against good teams. He's a great player when you're playing Andorra, but that's about it.

England could absolutely have played better. If you were judging solely on club form, a combined team would have a lot more English players than Spaniards. They were a team and we were a group of individuals who never got going.

Ollie Watkins should be starting the next game. As should Cole Palmer.

Blah. We could have done so much better. The 25 minutes we were behind shows how we can play.

I don’t think we are anywhere near as dynamic. Spain were excellent at closing players down and giving England no room to breathe whatsoever. England stepped up, but we do not have the stamina to play at Spain’s level for a full 90 minutes.

And yeah, if I think about a lack of dynamism, Harry Kane personifies that. His style of play has been ineffective for the last few matches.

Who would take his place? Luke Shaw seems like a good shout.

Kane shouldn't really have been in our starting squad for the past few games

There is something strangely cruel watching the England squad all CRYING on the pitch whilst Freed From Desire is triumphantly honking away

Just think how much Barcelona are going to have to pay Nico Williams now. They’ll be even more bankrupt than they are already.

Loving some of the awkward sympathy looks from the presentation ceremony.

So much confusing shit

Why did Cucurella decide to modify his shorts into a NAPPY before the medal ceremony?

Luke Shaw or Kyle Walker are easy choices but they're both getting on a bit for pacey wingers.

John Stones seems like a good candidate as he will go on a few years. Or just go for Bellngham.

Southgate has been a great manager by and large. He has brought a team spirit, been really good at blooding young players where many past managers have been too scared of doing. He has a pretty amazing record.

It is time for him to give someone else a chance though.

For one reason most for me. Pickford. He's our worst player. He made a couple of saves today but most goals he let in over the tournament would have been saved by a world class keeper. Ramsdale should have been our #1 5 years ago.

Bellingham is a TERRIBLE choice - some of his behaviour this tournament has been almost divaish and really shown his young age. I think Shaw, Stones and Walker are good shouts although Walker will be kicking on 36 by the time the World Cup comes around.

Might be the biased Arsenal fan coming out but something about Declan Rice just screams Captain to me. He was given the nod in the pre-tournament friendlies so obviously Gareth sees something there too, although I still think he’s yet to show the quality he offers at club level in an England shirt.

Had England not reached the final of the Euros, his legacy might've been that he stayed one tournament too many. But I think he's pulled back enough goodwill from most people for this to be the right time.

He's been more successful than any England manager before. I'd never seen them in a final before, he took them to three.

Some of the backlash feels a little cruel

If we'd been told 10 years ago we'd make back-to-back Euros finals, we'd have been DELIGHTED

Even at his worst, Southgate has outperformed most managers we've had
