Not sure if there is a catch all thread already for all the less obvious stuff, but I’d love people to share when they’ve seen something good on Netflix/Prime/Apple/Disney/Sky. Also good to keep up with when stuff has been added or if you stumble upon something good by accident.

I’m laying low all weekend and will take recommendations for Netflix, Prime and Sky/Now :)

Katla keeps getting recommended to me by Netflix. Let me know how you get on.

I’m getting close to the end on my two binge watches on Prime and I need to find something to replace them soon. I’m terribly impatient when starting something new, nothing appeals. If I last 3 episodes or so I go the opposite way and get totally hooked. Just need that early incentive

glad to have handmaids tale back but it’s 1 ep a week and not enough.

I’ve just watched Time on the bbc… it was brilliant. Only 3 episodes so potentially just one nights viewing but SO good

Queens Gambit was great and I think a Netflix original

Seen that. Was brilliant. I got into that straight away but again would probably never have started it if not for the buzz.

Last night I watched all six 15 minute episodes of Mandy on iPlayer. Yet another Diane Morgan character. Loved it.

this seems to be the biggest topic of conversation on the family WhatsApp. It sounds miserable though!

I don’t watch a lot of British dramas but when I do I end up enjoying. Broadchurch was fantastic and that one about the girl who walks up to the guy and says I know about your family. Can’t remember what it was called.

Does Web Therapy exist anywhere? I’ve never watched that in full and I would LOVE TO.

JustWatch app is the best for finding where shows are streaming. They also have a new section where you can see what’s been added to each service.

In terms of hidden gems: Bosch. Excellent police procedural, it was one of Prime’s earlier shows so it’s a bit forgotten (final season released today).

oh I love that website. I use it for searching for things I’m specifically looking for but I didn’t know it had a recently added section - marvellous.

but I still think the best way to find new shows is from talking to others and getting recommendations. Hence the thread.

that’s been popping up since I’ve been binge watching The Shield (which is certainly living up to the hype it got 10 years ago, even if it isn’t as good as The Wire like they said it was, but that’s an impossible comparison anyway)

Is Bosch purely a procedural or does it have strong underlying stories that span the series as well? I think that’s why I liked The Shield and The Wire so much. It was much more than the weekly cases.

This is a bit more contained as each season is a case but it’s a perfect binge.

There are elements that are carried throughout obviously. So it’s a cross between the two genres.

Netflix:
Fatherhood, have tissues nearby because you WILL use them
Lupin
The OA
Black Summer
The Politician

Amazon Prime:
The Boys
Them
Saint Maud

Sky:
The Night Of, it's a few years old but it's well worth a watch, central performance from Riz Ahmed was outstanding.

What’s that German time travel show that everyone keeps raving about. I haven’t watched it but I think it could be up @funky ‘s alley.

Edit: Dark.

I just watched Lupin over the weekend. Not the kind of thing I usually plump for but big escapist fun.

i actually did the marketing for The Night Of. Incredible show. Riz is so good.

First impressions on Katla: beautiful photography, photogenic landscape, the story reminds me of Les Revenants. Not sure if I will watch the entire season but will definitely watch episode 2.

I'd recommend "Sweet Tooth" on Netflix, first season is only 8 episodes and though it might seem like a kids show, it isn't at all. Also a new music documentary "This Is Pop" landed during the week that's meant to be really good.

"Bosch" on Prime is also worth checking out, you don't need to have read the books beforehand and from what I've read online it seems accepting Titus Welliver in the lead works better when you haven't read them.

And get the Hayu app so you can join us in the Housewives forum :D

I forgot to mention when I responded before, but Ted Lasso is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while

I’ve been meaning to watch Trying and also Mystic Quest and the Morning Show on apple plus

I really want to see The Morning Show but I don't have Apple yet.

I started This is Pop, it’s interesting, the style is good, I don’t THINK it falls into the traps of other similar docs I’ve seen on Netflix where they do some weird editing gimmicks (I like “The *** that made us” series but they definitely do quite manic editing)
