Does anybody else find it strange commentators keep talking about Marina’s age? Rylan and the other one were saying it like it was some incredible feat that a 37 year old could do choreography. Btw I’m 33.

And you don't look a day past 48!

Until Rylan said she was 37 I thought she was in her early 20s. The choreography definitely feels like it's aimed at someone much younger.

I can't even describe the amount of dirt she's getting from local right wing twitter for that since yesterday
And brainless trash TV panel members
I thought it was a little bit much, but I can't say I don't agree with her.

I don’t know. I like her a lot but this seems like a pretty pathetic thing to do to another contestant during the press conference - not to mention another woman, only 20, starting out in the industry.

Who by now knows exactly what she's signed up for.
For me, moments like this one from Marina, is where being anti-war (which I presume Marina is and rightly so) starts to look more anti-Israeli - it is targeted personally at the contestant.

Haven't got back from work yet, so haven’t seen tv at all, i can imagine though. And I agree it was a bit much, especially given the contrast of how friendly she's been to everyone else. On the other hand we may be reading way too much on this, she had a fever and was probably knackered.

Once again, can we please try to refrain from engaging in personal attacks or accusations leveled at individual posters in these discussions? This is turning into a very unpleasant week and obviously emotions are running high, but this forum only works if we can debate each other respectfully.

Thank you.

Haven't found the courage to open the tv or twitter to read the domestic reaction.

Israel getting a 7 from our televote in the middle of a humanitarian crisis, is pretty telling of how deeply right wing is rooted in this country and she really has done everything there was to upset them. They've been hating her for showing low class Athens as it is, in humble Monastiraki, with real people, no models, no luxurious venues, no pretty islands, just urban and raw, for encompassing the hindi-flavoured vocals (whether they like it or not a good part of our traditional song catalogue looks towards India), for having muslim dancers on stage, for embracing our balkanity and middle-easterny identities, for befriending the non binary people and rooting for them, and of course for yawning at Israel's press conf.
So I expect that coming home, they will tear her apart, they already were but it will intensify. They were calling her zea (amongst other things) which is a right wing's slang label for left people. Surely there is some deeply rooted love in Greece for the Israelites, based on proximity and interaction, sharing similar traditions, music, food, culture etc. But Hurricane wasn't a song that was cherishing that (like Duo Datz - Kan, or Golden Boy for example), it's a generic song crafted for all, so am feeling that this 7 points were for the most part political, not neighbor/sisterly affection.

Now other than that how do i feel about her, the performance and the placement? I love her a lot for a long time and was gutted on the semi, cause the vocal delivery wasn't what is was meant to be, and I didn't want that performance to be what's going to be left on my memory from her participation. But thankfully she made it through and now I can always come back to the Final's performance and enjoy her participation. So at the end of the day am happy. Staging wise am also happy she went along with what she wanted, I was always skeptical about the idea, but at least it turned out much better than how I imagined it to be. Placement wise? Am happy for 11th (even though I'd be over the moon if it was 10) cause it came in a very weird year, where a lot of people were campaigning against her, both within the country and on social and where most votes were directed to a single direction for reasons unrelated to the liking of a song. A little sad I am about the jury reading of the song, but to be honest this was never going to be a jury pet song. Nonetheless 12 from Switzerland shows that some juries are more ready than others for this kind of "business disruption" in Eurovision and am all up for it.

What do I hope will be her legacy? She broke the curse there was for singing in our national language and hopefully proved to ERT that they shouldn't be manically going after this overly generic soup they have always went for in recent years. And am also happy the dream team finished below her cause they have hijacked the selection year after year after year and enough is enough. At the end of the day it's much better to come up 11th with something that is a proposal and fresh than coming 10th with something that is dated same old same old.

Well done Marinouli!

Greece's 7 to Israel is actually one of the lowest points Israel got from anywhere on the televote!

I voted for Marina last night :disco: she was definitely more on form than in the semi

I can say that Marina is right up my street. She sees Greece the way I see it, she feels Greece the way I feel it.
We know how racist and short-sighted Greeks can be and how conservative most Greeks are.
While Marina was making music that was directed mainly to the Greek public, everything was fine.
As soon as she showed the world the same thing, the Greeks felt shortchanged and that they were misrepresented (somehow).

She can yawn all she likes.

Greeks like conformity, being everyone's pets and upsetting no one.
Good on Marina for actually showing that, you know, if we don't like something, we show it. We don't have to be liked by everyone, as it's not necessary.

And good on her for upsetting the right-wing supporters. That means she's doing all the right things.

This new song is ACE!!!

Go, Marina!

Did you see the PM's office statement about Marina not being the country's foreign police secretary?
And the story circulating about how the PM's office asked ERT to abandon internal selections from now on?
She is everything. :D
