Most famous for Upstairs Downstairs, but I was always more fond of her turns as evil queen Bavmorda turning people into pigs, or as the weird old ghost hunter lady with a strange hatred of SHOESHINE BOYS

She played 3 amazing roles in Doctor Who from 1965 to 1989. An absolutely brilliant actress. Have been expecting this news for a while - she just seemed to be old forever.

That scene with all the different heads screaming DOROTHY GALE while Mombi wanders about headless is NIGHTMARE FUEL. I can't believe this was allowed in a kids film, not to mention the equally terrifying Wheelers

I was 9 when this came out and distinctly remember watching it (some of it behind my hands) at the cinema. The changing heads thing was originally part of another character in the books apparently.

Lest we forget the beginning with Dorothy being committed to a MENTAL ASYLUM! I rewatched it last year & it remains a work of ART but I class it with the oddly dark period that Disney had with the likes of "The Black Cauldron" - no wonder kids these days are TOO BLOODY WOKE, in my day films would shit you up & leave you with lifelong PTSD, etc

She was still recording audio dramas as Sara Kingdom from Doctor Who as recently as 2022 I think even though she only ever played her in one story on screen back in 1965. (And also the character was killed off but you know timey-wimey and all that).
