Enjoying this sad, sultry number from The Red Shoes at the moment. Eric Clapton's guitar is fantastic, but it's Kate's wailed '... and so is love' that really makes it for me.

I think this was also the last time she ever performed on TV? Featuring two backing singers doing a remarkable Kate impression :side-eye: God bless Top of the Pops.

Also re-recorded for the Director's Cut. She must have CHEERED UP between the original and that version as she switched the lyric from 'life is sad, and so is love' to 'life is sweet, and so is love'.

Love the original. The remake doesn't really work for me though.

Moments of Pleasure is the better Red Shoes ballad though.

This is the only one where Director's Cut somewhat ruined the original for me because it's just so bad!

But I used to love the original and it is one of her saddest. I love how the drums go double speed towards the end, it's a very effective build up. And her vocal (on the original) is just gorgeous.
