Annette Bening as a real life marathon swimmer, Jodie Foster as her ex-girlfriend coach. Oscar catnip?

I liked it. The two leads are fantastic. Bening really puts herself through the wringer and makes the prickly Nyad bearable. Foster's warm charisma is absolutely top-notch - I loved every one of her scenes. The film itself is enjoyable but nothing out of this world.

It was FINE, but a total TV movie. Don’t expect this to get much awards attention.

I really enjoyed it. I think they'll both get Oscar noms.

This was fairly average inspirational movie fare, although an undeniably impressive physical feat for Bening, which I guess is what netted her the Oscar nom.

It was really Foster's movie though, she had the much more layered and interesting role, and their screen time was surely pretty much identical. Also, she looks absolutely incredible!
