Super talented triple threat
I’d forgotten how dismally dull Embrace were. What a complete non-voice that singer had.
"Everything I Wanted", & although I do like it, was such a MOMENTUM STOPPER for Dannii. Baffling when a remixed "Disrememberance" would have been an ideal second single.
That and the POPPERS UP YER CHUFF FANTASTIC ‘Someone New’ was just languishing on some Japanese bonus track. Bizarre!
Total Oasis-lite & although Liam Gallagher can be a total cock, credit where it's due, he'd have turned this into the ROUSING INDIE ANTHEM they clearly intended it to be. Embrace bloke just makes it into a dirge with his LIFELESS delivery.I’d forgotten how dismally dull Embrace were. What a complete non-voice that singer had.
Funnily enough, that song was written by Babyface. It also sounded strikingly similar to Joy by Blackstreet.Last chart appearance for Michael Bolton. Did he stop having hits because he cut his hair? Or did everyone wake up & realise it was all SOULLESS BILGE?
It's forgotten just how quickly N-Trance went from an all-time floor filler classic in "Set You Free" to a bunch of shitey tacky 70s covers a la Clock. "D'Ya Think I'm Sexy" is awful. I wonder if they just ran out of original ideas quickly & decided on the cynical cash-in route.
2 years between late 1997 & mid 1999. He had a minor sized hit with World Cup 1998 theme "The Cup Of Life" in between.I don't remember this Ricky Martin song at all...how long was it between Un Dos Tres Maria and Livin' La Vida Loca?
Mind you, I'll take a dozen choreographed dance routines over Jo Whiley being an indie snob about it...Absolutely hated that Dario G record and I still do. I dare say Nick Laird-Clowes earned a few quid from it tho'. As for this shite-awful, community college staging of The Lion King to do with it, get fucked.
Shameless rip off of "All The Young Dudes" & I always felt this was the tipping point into MEAT & POTATOES ROCK for them.Oasis well and truly off the boil here - after the promise of the brilliantly overblown "D'You Know What I Mean?", it was straight back to this by-numbers crap. Little did we know that this was no blip.
It's just so DULL. That it does nothing we hadn't heard from them before isn't the worst of it, it's so cheerless. The chutzpah of thinking you could add another song called "Stand By Me" to the canon needs to be met by some actual enthusiasm. Suddenly, they looked the way they sounded - distant, uninterested. The poised disinterest that was cool-as when soundtracked by Rock & Roll Star became emblematic when accompanied by this toss.Shameless rip off of "All The Young Dudes" & I always felt this was the tipping point into MEAT & POTATOES ROCK for them.
Oh shit. At least this single isn't his legacy, I suppose.I just looked them up, apparently it was their only hit and the lead singer is also now DEAD
