Not the obvious Sam single in European terms though it did go top 40 most places. However, it was pretty significant in the US. #3 there, #28 on the year end Billboard sales chart and first white artist to have a #1 on the Black Chart. She was one of the first to successfully merge pop and hiphop that became so prevalent. I wasn’t ready for the sound at the time but sort of love it now.

The Billboard one was called black chart until late 1990, then r&b chart.
