I’m quite cheerful about the prospect of Johnson. There’s no way he’ll he able to unify the party. In fact he’s probably already prepping for another election. It’s where he thrives. But he’s very likely to lose.
Rishi means a far higher likelihood that we end up stuck with the Tories for another two years. Plus he’s really, really, really awful. Just better dressed. On green issues for example, Boris would actually be the least-worst candidate by some distance. Austerity 2.0 is probably going to horrendous either way, but Sunak will be much more enthusiastic about tearing our public services to shreds and privatising everything.
