(Jesus the 8’s and 9’s are always my peak years, the 0’s usually start well but this year has been a cunt from almost day 1.

Bring back 1998-1999 and 2008-2009.)
 
The polls have been oddly stable for months, with Biden approx 10% ahead. The convention and Bidens speech have both gone down well. It's a good start at least.

Nikki Haley has been mentioned a few times however I think it's unlikely.

She was Trump's pick for UN ambassador but stood down after nearly two years in post in 2018. She's been critical of Trump in the past but a VP pick might help her if she has presidential aspirations. There's speculation she might run as a candidate for the 2024 elections.
 
I'm in awe of these people. They openly admit they will do nothing (even during a vast economic depression) and will still win. America is diseased.

Has Nikki Haley been mentioned just because of her Indian origin (like Harris’)? That would be such a cunt move, I’d rather they’d stick with Pence.
 
I'm beginning to suspect that the election has already been decided. The polls have barely moved in months and the DNC hasn't changed anything. I doubt the RNC will alter them much either. Opinions have long set in and the 70 odd days left won't make Trump more appealing, which is essentially what this election is all about. I'm changing my prediction to Biden.

It's contested, some say they heard Monkey and others Spygate, in a Yanny Laurel fashion.

For the record I hear Spygate.
 
It's quite clearly "Spygate" to me too. Trump mentions spying in the same breath he mentions Obama, so it makes sense that someone shouted that out

Trump's going to win - that foul play is involved will keep the thinkpieces coming but will mean nothing to individuals.

The UK didn't elect its magic grandpa, the US won't either. Nothing has stuck to Trump, even the Coronavirus death toll. The country's media is only marginally to the left of Genghis Khan and Biden isn't an inspiring speaker. Or an inspiring figure at all. Biden stands for nothing, Trump stands for something - that something is racism, corruption and no consequences for illegal activity but enough people believe in his "So what? What are you gonna do about it?" blaggardry as to make it predictable that a thoroughly outdated, completely gerrymandered electoral system respond as designed.

If Trump wins then there is literally no hope for the stupid people of that country and there'll never be a sane or morally good President again.

However I don't believe he will.
 
I keep reminding myself that Trump didn't exactly RUN AWAY WITH IT during the 2018 midterms, and as Ag mentioned - the polling has been pretty stable for a while now.

I also DO WISH they'd get it over with already, especially as we are unlikely to get a clear result on election night itself. I'm trying to read less, especially speculative pieces, about the election as they just makes me feel ANXIOUS.
 
American politics is beyond parody at this point. There was barely a single factual statement in that Pro-Trumpette’s speech. She can shove her lies, bullshit and American exceptionalism quite frankly. It’s utterly tragic this is the standard of discourse in a democratic state.

Interesting that there seem to be more members of Trump’s family speaking at the convention than actual Republican politicians. :eyes:

This is one of the scariest things, even if we do get rid of Trump senior - we have Trump JNR AND Ivanka waiting in the wings ready for 2024/2028. They are NOT going away anytime soon.

How depressing if Ivanka ends up the first female president. :gross:
 
Trump's campaign is all about generating fear. In general, that's not an effective electoral tactic. With Brexit, Corbyn vs Johnson, Trump vs Clinton, Obama vs Bush etc. the candidate offering a positive message - even if that message was entirely bound up in lies and jingoism - won the day. Take Back Control, Get Brexit Done, Make America Great Again, Yes We Can.

He played his strongest hand last time around and it doesn't wash the second time around because he transparently hasn't made America 'Great Again'.
